TTB piviot end C&T?
Searched but found little info on this.
I've been doing research, or at least trying to, on the pros and cons of modifying TTB beams for lift by relocating/modifying the pivot end of the beam vs. the spindle end
(like on this Bronco: http://www.gofastbroncos.com/forum/view ... 33&start=0 ).
I can see a few advantages to modifying the beams this way. One of the biggest ones being that from the outside it seems like a much easier modification to perform for a novice. A second one for me is all the shops that do conventional C&T are on the west coast which ends up almost doubling the cost of having my beams done.
That said, any info on the pros, cons, considerations.

One reason is that is gets the steering geometry back to a better place. Second is that the drop brackets are a weak point and retuning to the stock pivot and reinforcing it makes a more reliable setup.
They are done on the west coast because we live in the regions they are needed to race or to have a better play toy. Southern Cal is the birth place of modern Baja style off road racing.
Its not that hard to do a basic cut of the lower Ball joint mount and push it out 1/2 in. This does not make it a race setup and there is more to it than that but it is a good project for a descent welder. $500 plus $200 freight is not to bad for a basic c&t beams. Talk to Baja Scott on this forum, he is with Camburg. I have got a couple things from them and they do great work. I could have fabbed all of it myself but I wanted to save time.

Gunit has since changed back to a traditional beam with the BJ moved outward.
Changing the pivot height creates a lot of plunge on the center joint which binds under any power at all. That binding creates a lot of issues.

Ya, I have seen some beams cut in some weird way that deserved a (What the H*ll were you thinking.)

That is cool, I just have not experience with that Scott. Scott at Camburg had a set of Shackles out to me the next day after I talked to his and he was reasonable on price. I have a couple people I have known for a while that I get advice from because I have seen them do work far above the quality of most. Although they have offered me help, I also don't want to be another mooch trying to get free help. I do try to pick their brains and learn by helping them if I can.

That's a good way to be. I love doing work for friends about as much as I love doing work on my own truck. I can't say no & it's gotten me in trouble (not really, but delays stuff) a bit. Too bad now-a-days I don't have time to work on my stuff or my buddies.
