Because there are two, here is the second. First one I had .035 in the welder. This one .030. I find the thinner weld wire alot easier to work with than the .035.

Some more progress. Clearanced the cab support underneath and will reinforce. Leafs are in and rear end is underneath and will get the leaf spring perches welded in hopefully this weekend. Also started the rear shock mount. Only 20+ more holes to drill. The rear mount will be 3/16 plate with a 3/16 overlay then slide the shock bar through both sides and weld in the 3 bolt tab drawn out. The tab will have 3 1/2” bolts to hold it to the side plates and the tube will slide through both the base and overlay plate on each side. Its removable and should be plenty strong.

I had to clearance a bit of the body mount for the leaf spring shackle but only a small piece. The shock mount plate fits and leaves wiggle room for tabs. The leaf spring perches are welded on and the pinion angle set. Its under its own weight on stands. Anyone tried the power stop rear drum kits? I was wondering if rhe stopping power was any better or maybe if they were less prone to glazing?

Its dusty but it holds its own weight. I needed to flip it around to figure out my shock mounts. I will say I really like the way it sits.

These are pretty. Im going to try a 350 disc disc master and 2 lb residuals. Also looking into running my own disc setup in the rear and working these up front inside the alcoas along with the rear.

Me, too. A 15" wheel will restrict the rotor size a lot, needing a 17" or bigger rim to fit both a decent diameter rotor and a beefy enough caliper to stop them. I'll be watching.

So I guess that's why they've had it on their website for quite awhile without any pictures .

I went through this years ago with my EB. The shape of the knuckles really preclude using calipers like the one pictured above. If you're lucky, you *might* get a radial mount caliper in there but it's still super tight.

Height between the caliper and wheel shouldn’t be an issue. The depth might be an issue.

Finally got a minute to pull apart some stuff and get the rotors on the axles. Inboard rotors means harder maintenance however, all 4 corners run the same rotor. I need to make the brackets for the axle but waiting on pads. Also plenty of droop. Ill measure for straps while I’m in there.

Eventually ill do all 4 corners. Its really just about ease of part list, cost and availability. 1 stud size for all 4 corners and I can run my Alcoas. Its close but it fits. Also, calipers are alot cheaper than a brake kit. Thank you.

Anyone ver looked into an electric ebrake caliper? My broke ass can’t afford a 400.00 wilwood caliper but a passat caliper is doable. The dlecteic e brake works independent of the hydraulics so id ditch any hydraulics and run a brake rotor on the transfer case.
