When the solenoids turn off the collapsing magnetic field can send a spike back to the ecc. To protect the ecc they put diodes in the solenoid pack to block the spikes. In 95 they moved the diodes to the ecc, so if you have a pre-95 ecc and a 95-96 solenoid pack there are no diodes and you can blow out your ecc. I believe that was also when they changed the wiring to the weather plug, so you need to be sure that you have the right year solenoid pack and that the wire harness is wired for the 92. If either is incorrect you may have blown out your ecc

Interestingly enough, I currently have a 91 solenoid and a 91 ECm. It originally was a 95 and it blew up the ecm x2 actually.

I’m currently working on the wiring at the MLPS and checking that they line up properly.

Did a solid 380 miles with my pops !!

Only issue was fuel pump was still running when I pulled up to the house ? Gotta figure that one out ? But excited for the solid run, gonna need to get some action shots.

So when I got home from this last trip I noticed my fuel pump still running with the Bronco shut off. I confirmed my fuel pump relay and my EEC relay are functioning. I’ve confirmed that my fuel pump is still good. I remove my access door and confirmed my feel pump still functions by hooking it up to a Makita battery. But something in between those is telling my fuel pump not to run when I turn the key. The next thing I’m going to look at is my inertia switch.

I have a question can I just run 12 V power to a switch in manually turn my fuel Pump on?

I don't see why not on the fuel pump on a switch. I know it has been done in the past on other cars I've been around (buddy's racecars etc)

Copy that, I’m going to try switching out to another ECM that I have to see if maybe it’s faulty. Also by having the pump on a switch that initial prime 2 to 3 seconds that were used to will be gone, basically flip the switch and then start the Bronco.

Yes, flip the switch 1st to get fuel flowing, then fire. You'll get the hang of the timing for how long to let the fuel run before firing over a couple times of doing it. Just make sure to shut it off! You have to build a habit of turning on & off the pump. Easy to turn the key off,hop out & go get lunch & forget your fuel pump is on & burning itself out while you sit there & eat...

Copy that !! The way the sounds are forced thru the cage it’s hard to walk away with it running. My father in law came over the other night and says the bronco was making noise in the driveway ? Pump was running on its own, pulled the relay for now.

Totally get that. Just saying it can happen with distractions in the dirt, etc. Imagine pulling up to Slash X with a couple buddies after a run & talking as you unstrap & get out & it just gets away from you.

I'd wire a big warning light on the dash that is on while the pump is on. Could be annoying at night runs, but could save your pump a time or 2. If you're better at wiring that I am, figure out how to wire one of those "you left your headlights on idiot!" buzzers to the thing so if the pump is on & the key is pulled it buzzes.

Perfect example, 3 dudes pull up to a bar lol ! But a warning light is a great idea

. Of course I get home today and it’s raining, wasted Bronco time.

Find an ignition circuit feed from the ign switch or harness, tap that to a relay so that the key on for ign will run the fuel pump and switch it on and off with general use. That way it runs like normal and no dead pumps/fuel tank explosions from the pump burning up.

No Problem, glad to be of help (if it does help). Also, you might wire a toggle switch into that feed wire as a theft deterent as well. Put the switch somewhere so only you know where it is and it might save your Bronco from being stolen one night in Baja

Yeah toggle switch for sure !! I usually pull my fuel pump relay at night in Baja. It’s funny I usually pull it and hide away from vehicle when we are out surfing. My biggest fear is a theft while 200 yards out in the water.

Well decided to drive up to jump champs and not tow, we ran 4 hard practice laps Friday. Bronco ran great, temps stayed low. Started fourth on Saturday behind “broncoDave” last years champ. We ran a hard 2 1/2 laps before smoked started coming from my dash. She shut down and wouldn’t start. Had to be towed off track, super bummed. So we decided to pull the cluster and look for anything burnt. Found this

Funny thing is I was able to start and drive my bronco all the way home without the cluster

Filled my tank and had water temp gauge for the drive.
