Carb vs. EFI

Guys let me know if this topic is addressed somewhere already, I did a few searches and didn't see exactly what I was looking for. I need some input on a motor decision. I have a 302 that can't stay in the bronco another second longer. I am looking to build off of a 351W. My bronco is smog exempt as it lives out of state, I am planning to go with a carbonated setup because that is all I really know, and I feel like it will simplify things. I am planning to have the bronco completely re-wired. Am I making a mistake by going with a carb setup? Anything I am not thinking of? Any input is appreciated.

What year bronco? Are you going to go with a manual valve body for the auto trans?

If you decide to go with a carb, I have a 5.8L Edelbrock intake for sale. CHEAP!

91 and it has a manual valve body.

Thanks for the link. I am 99% sure I will be going with a carb. I need to find a block in the next few weeks or possibly look to a builder to do a crate motor. Duffee looks like a nice shop, a little far for me though. I would like to find something either San Diego, Orange, or inland empire. I have been told total performance in SD is on the pricey side but does quality work. Any other souther California suggestions? Timing is my biggest challenge as I would like the motor done by the end of January.

Ls1 and be done. Or a newer 6.2 would be cool. I know of someone putting one of those in a 67 f100 shortbed. He's excited haha.

My 88 came with EFI, and its a major part of what led to a hole in the piston. I went with a carb on the rebuild (395 stroker) and while Ive only had limited use with it so far (Baja 1000 and Barstow to Laughlin) its been great. I like the simplicity and if you already know carbs you will be way ahead of me if something happens. Im still learning the idiosyncrasies of a carb. Simplicity was a big part of my decision to carb, a ton of wireing was pulled and thrown away in the process. I also talked to a couple of friends with race and prerun broncos all they were all much happier with a carb.

If smog is no issue then carb all the way and there is arce enterprises in san diego does great work

I wouldn't get anywhere near a carb in this day and age. I can tune every little thing in my fuel system using my netbook via USB, no more dropping bowls to change jets and getting fuel all over the place for me!
