Rear Limit straps
Rear Limit straps
I've finally gotten around to mounting limit straps for the rear. I've planned on mounting them to the outside of the C-channel and then down to lower shock mount. I've decided the cleanest way would be to mount them to the bolt that attaches my Upper shock mount at the same angle as the shocks are at ride height. The only problem with idea is that the possibility of the strap being caught onto something since it’s mounted on the lower OEM shock mounts. The length would be upwards of 23" in length, thus leaving 2" of allowable stretch until full extension of my shocks. I could mount tabs off the top of the axle, but if this approach works then no need to go the extra step. What are your thoughts on length, mounting location, and limit strap angle?

way back in the olden days it was common to run the strap parallel to the shock, and zip tie it to the shock body.

I like the cables running under the beams on the BFG bronco. Fairly agricultural but it must be effective if it still has them after all the years.

Well FWIW mine are run from the shock mounts in the rear. When we relocated the shocks to the spring perches I used the old mounts (crossbar and custom lowers). You should be fine with running them off the stock shock locations. The tab angel IMO is not important, I would position it to be straight down so at full droop with the strap extended its pulling straight or close to it. One other option is to pick up adjusters and weld them to the frame. You could plate the inner C Channel and use that? The big thing is to make sure that the straps aren't rubbing or pinching something at extension. Then periodically give a look see at them to see if they are wearing okay.

Hey, I see new build rock crawler/racers still using both chains and steel cables.
