Leo and Remac have built countless transmissions for me over the years, He is a stand up guy and will make it right, The only thing I would do different is a Punisher valve body, Same principal different builder.

Leo told me he wouldnt build me one unless we used 96 parts.
There is no substititute for Horsepower.

I've heard they can be quite abit more efficient and people swear by the difference it makes, but I was wondering the same as you as what exactly the difference is.

I had a 96 and he updated with the big diesel hard parts. Great guy got it dialed right in for me, banged out the dent in my pan from my lack of a tranny jack and flushed the coolers with his solvent as they werent flowing adequtely...

I recommend anybody take their E4OD to him, he does a lot of them.

I would bet most are blowing smoke for the added expense of a high end unit...I keep an eye on mileage so I will know if my mileage increases. Lucas fuel cleaner was good for 1 mpg or 10%...I found that impressive but it was added while using pemex which usually increases my mileage anyhow.

It shifts great, drives great, and maybe even feels "smoother" at cruising speed. maybe thats the TC? maybe its a fresh trans without 185k on it? I am not sure.

Thanks for the help Kris. You probably saved me a couple hundred bucks as I think I'm gonna stick with the stock TC as it wasn't really in the budget anyway.

I hope this post is in the correct thread?

Subject is E4OD and a non compatable engine.

Communication from BeControls In July 2012
We do sell a transmission controller that will run your transmission independently from the engine. You could then use anything you want to run the engine.
The transmission controller is available two ways:
Full harness with transmission controller $550.00
Stub Harness with transmission controller $425.00
The stub harness requires that all wires be soldered into your factory wiring, the full harness lets you plug in all the connections to the transmission and solder in just the connections that go to the vehicle. You will find the following links helpful.
http://www.becontrols.com/products/electronicscat.htm
http://www.becontrols.com/products/tcsfullharness.htm
http://www.becontrols.com/tech/tcsdownloads.htm
http://www.becontrols.com/ourfaqs/tcsfaq_1.htm
We don't offer complete E4OD transmissions at this time. I also don't have a good source at the moment for low stall torque converters. My current supplier quit offering this converter and I am still searching for something comparable.
You definitely want to hang on to your old transmission. Cores for E4ODs are hard to come by and tend to be expensive.

I have looked into these and they seem legit. You can run it push button shift as well would be fun. The only problem is it does not mesh with the stock ecu.

Brian,
Not a problem
The device allows independent control of the E4OD regardless of what engine is used. Chevy LS or Ford crate motors use the device in conjunction with the E4OD. The device even works with the stock motor your Bronco came with except the tranny functions will be controlled by the device. Normal ECU functions will still work – like instruments.
In the case of an incompatible motor the rig will function like one with a manual tranny.
The device could be considered an alternative to using a ”manual” automatic such as an AOD or 700R4.

until i stopped driving my prerunner everyday and got an ford escort to drive everyday i didnt realize how ineffeciant y truck really was. it was a 4.0 ranger that i. threw about 4 a4ld in. i uustified this cost by telling myself that it was better on gas with the o.d. the point im making is put a beefed up c6 in it and forget about it. sure it will get worse gas milage but for the time it is onthe road driving per year is minimal. youll pay more for the tranny and the gas. and allthe time it takes to put it in but that is worth it to not have your tranny take a poop while your on a prerun fun trip. beside ineffiency is fun.

What are your plans for the rebuild? High dollar or ???
Since I wont be making 1000ft-lbs of torque anytime soon this is the list:
all 3 planets to steel
modified valve body
billet HD TC
new OEM solenoid pack
all wear items replaced
$2100
Remac trans in san dimas and came recommended from Ryan Stewart (PPM machine, EX TCS Ryan) who machines his E4OD billet parts.

The steel planets are a $450 upgrade and he said he could go either way on a gas motor but I went with them just for peace of mind.
I feel the same way about the not having 1000ft/lbs. I dont see needing all the 300m shafts etc. $2100 vs $3500 Sounds good to me. Keep us posted on how you are liking it once it takes a few beatings!
So any updates? You beat on it yet? Whats the word?

Run a 5 speed.

Escape cops by using the curbs at the local mall as whoops.

Logistically though, how difficult is a 5 speed swap into an automatic truck? I wouldn't imagine it'd be worth it for most.

With no labor cost it might workout, but replaced parts still will cost some bucks so its still not a low buck deal.
As cheap as used Broncos are probably the most economical way to go is just trade for a manual rig and dont look back.
Depends on the goal? Like is it for a daily driver. How is your traffic because a stick really gets old in the border line. For a dedicated off road rig its hard to beat an auto. And crossing the border avoiding the 10000 shifts at each crossing is really good.

So I figured I would post this here. After installing a new to me trans I figured I would share a few lessons learned to aid others in the future.

1. The stock 4r100 trans pan gasket is the only way to go. I installed 3 different rubber gaskets on my prior trans and all of them leaked. I thought it was just me being a tard. Well the 4r100 pan gasket is tard proof. Don't waste your time and just get it from the get go.

2. Don't put the new trans filter in prior to installing Art Carr/Winters shifter selector shaft. You can still do it but it is a lot more frusterating with the filter in the way.

3. Also with the Art Carr/Winters shifter use slightly longer pan bolts on the 2 that hold the cable bracket on. With the added width of the bracket there is to little threads engaged and it will strip before you get to the correct TQ.

Hope this helps somebody down the road

Ok guys I'm having a little issue that I don't want to turn into a big issue.

Last time I drove the bronco, while cruising on the fwy around 65 mph. My rpm's are around 2500-2600 when they used to be around 2000-2100 rpm. When I barely accelerate the rpm's drop off a little bit. If I press down harder it downshifts like normal.

So when I'm cruising around 65mph. And give it a little gas. My best description is that the rpm's hunt. Down then back up.

I had the trans filter changed and fluid topped off. But no change.

Any one have any ideas.

Check fluid level. Sounds like the converter isn't locking up anymore. I had a similar issue be the TPS.

Fluid levels are good. I just had a trans shop change the filter and fluid.
