LED retrofitted tail lights!

Alright fellas, I have done a half dozen of these, and they are ready for production.....

Basically a brand new tail light with a 18 LED board replacing the stop and turn tail light bulb. This involves cutting the back out of the housing, and retrofitting the LED board inside, then sealing back up. These come plug and play, ready to go. All you will need is to purchase a digital LED flasher for your turn signals. (Many of you already have if you are running LED bulbs).


Manufacturer has a few set of smoked housings, but those are significantly more expensive. Introductory pricing through December will be 250 on the red tails and 350 on the smoked tails. Can take 50 percent non refundable up front and balance when done, work takes approx 2 weeks.

Basically you need a "electronic flasher" with 2 pins or whatever the Bronco uses... like this

Sorry guys, late to respond.... Andy nailed it... electronic flasher such as what he listed works fine. It will actually work with the stock flasher, but does not flash regularly... you get this " blink blink blink pause blink blink pause....". IIt is inconsistent. Digital fixes that.

is there light output visible to the side of the tail lamp?

in other words, with these tail lamps can you see some light when seeing the side of the truck?

Yes, there absolutely is. I'll take some pictures this weekend, but there is clear output, even brighter IMO on the side. The 18 LEDs are very bright.

Tony - Educate me on this please.... So it means that with this LED flasher (2 pins) for turn signal lights is not longer necessary to have the resistors (that are on sale i.e. ebay) to be conected on the led bulb cables for tail lights to have the "blink flash" turn signal function or they still necessary to have even with the led flasher (2 pins) ??

A replacement flasher, the one that sits in the fuse panel,is what is required to make this work. No need for any resistors.

Some feedback from the other site, had five guinea pigs over there help me get the first couple of sets going.

A few running changes being made
1) Working directly with the manufacturer to get these as a separate lense and backing plate so I don't have to cut the apart. Will make for cleaner look, and require much less glue.
2) Will begin to shrink wrap all connections.

I had to use my Iphone for the pics and vids, Im in the middle of moving in to my new house and couldn't find my good camera so bear with me.

FED EX guy arrives with this

1) very well packaged. Each light came in two boxes.:thumbup







2)unwrapped everything and right away saw a problem, those butt connectors are ok for household electrical, but Minnesota's salted highways will eat this up. No worries, ill just redo the butt connectors and heat shrink those.




3) I then saw this. If you look between the lens and the black housing, you can see a gap where the sealing caulk didn't quite make it. Id hate to be door-handle deep in swamp water and short out my tails... no worries, I'll just reseal that up. I also had to trim down a few areas of the caulk that got a little thick, I couldn't get the lights to sit up against the body all the way.





4) wow, my I phone takes horrible videos, ill try again with better quality, keep in mind it is below 0 degrees in MN today and I've got a cold. The video may be a bit shaky.

When installing them, make sure you plug them in right. the LEDs are polarity sensitive. I thought I messed something up:doh0715: just turn the plug around.

You will need a new electronic flasher, our factory thermal ones does not work with these lights. Also, the electronic flasher does not fit behind our fuse panel cover. either leave the cover off, dremel a hole in the panel or remote mount the flasher. Im going to dremel a hole in the cover.:armed


Once I get everything sealed up nice I will be making some tail light guards for these guys and might produce a few extras if anyone is interested.:beer overall, Im happy to have them. thanks tcm. hope this helps with the few you build.:rockon:rockon:rockon
