you doing the coating in house now philo? I've had a gun for years & powder here, even had a small oven while i had my shop & I never got around to trying it. Oven was often too small for anything I wanted to do.

No, I had Messer / Allcoat in Kingman do them. I just bought the powder myself since they don't carry this color.ChaseTruck754 wrote:you doing the coating in house now philo? Worked on installing the uniball cups today. Got one done other than welding. I need to fit it up and cycle it before welding. The beams needs cleaning up around the hole and a small chamfer too.

Before you weld that in you may want to make a solid spud the same diameter as the uniball and insert it into the uniball cup to both help prevent distortion, wick heat away and keep the ID clean of flying slag berries.

They sell em but there way overpriced. I'm sure you have access to a lathe but if not I can make you one.

Re: Philo's 93 Bronco aka "Lucky Bronco #3"
I usually wipe the inside of the cup with brake fluid to stop anything from sticking. As far as distortion goes I have never had a problem welding without an insert.Rmc wrote:Before you weld that in you may want to make a solid spud the same diameter as the uniball and insert it into the uniball cup to both help prevent distortion, wick heat away and keep the ID clean of flying slag berries.

I was actually thinking about building a AGM like tool to press them in/remove them. Lots easier than dragging the whole beam to the press.Rmc wrote:Nothing a press won't overcome.

Re: Philo's 93 Bronco aka "Lucky Bronco #3"

Some power steering parts came in today.
I am going to redo my Sag pump with a external res (easier filling, it has to be done through the fender well now and won't be possible when the panels are in), filter, cooler on the engine cage cross bar, Tommy Lee GMT800 box with a 12/16:1 variable ratio, ram assist, and a 1.5:1 quickener.

Brackets are here... time to mock up brakes. The big plate is to mount a winch on my trailer, and the teardrops I just like to have around to terminate a tube.
