Such a busy time of year for me right now.

Swap meet last weekend
Sand sports show this weekend
TORC race in Primm the following weekend
Off Road Expo the next weekend
Lucas Oil Regionals at Lake Elsinore the next weekend
Possible TT testing in Plaster city the next weekend
Back to Elsinore for LOORS the next weekend

Will need to test the TT again, prerun the 1000, and race the 1000 in November

I also have a pregnant wife!

Hey Jose,
It shouldn't be a big deal catching up with us... we're not going too far on Friday. So, you can jump in behind us or meet us at camp Fri evening. We plan to make a side trip on the way to camp at the Lava Tubes... another opportunity to catch up.

I am new to the GFB but it looks like you all do some fun stuff. I have to admit I just sold my 1996 Bronco to purchase a 1994 Mazda B4000 prerunner pickup. Myself and a buddy with a Cummins powered Dodge (truck thing?) would like to join you all in the 2013 Baja HID run. I know you had to get permitts and all but it looks like some people are dropping out and we are not afraid to chip in $$ for the permits. I fully understand if we can't but we would like to joint the crew on this trip. My name is Robb and my buddy is Aaron. Please let us know and if we can let us know what we can do to help. If anything his Dodge makes a great recovery vehicle.

A few tid-bits of info for your planning purposes!

Mojave National Preserve, October weather historical averages:

recorded high temp: 110°F (1980)
recorded lo temp: 32°F (1989)
average hi: 87°F
average lo: 54°F
mean: 71°F
ave rainfall (oct): 0.31"

Twi: 06:25
Sunrise: 06:51
Sunset: 18:20
Twi: 18:45
First quarter moon: 16:03

Observation on our prerun... due to higher than average rainfall in the past few months, the vegetation is unusually green... makes for an exceptionally beautiful trail. There are a couple of small water crossings, nothing to concern yourself with, but the Mojave River has water in it.

One of the concerns is traversing Soda Lake. As of our prerun, we can all make it across the dry lakebed, but if we get any appreciable rainfall, the dry lake will become impassable. When Chris and I ran the lakebed last weekend, it was fairly muddy and any additional rain will make it downright mucky and will make it very difficult to get across. So, we have a work around and routing to get around Soda Lake, just in case.

Also, October 12th is opening day for deer season in the preserve so we may have a few extra vehicles along the route and this will raise the potential that our chosen camp spot might be occupied prior to our arrival... camping is first come, first served... so we need a back up camp spot. I'm going through the process with the NPS to id our alternative camp site. I'm sort of thinking that if there are a few folks that want to skedaddle ahead down the trail ahead of us slow pokes... we may want to use you as an advanced camp spot scouting party and to plan our flag there to keep it for us. I'll be taking volunteers (Yikes!)... plus, it'll provide those who do, more RC action time. Plenty of wide open spaces for some good RC action, by the way!

115° 36' 49.96" W
