I think I'd forgotten about Kris' post above. I don't fill water tanks/jugs while traveling for camping as we usually camp near running water, but it sounds like the Reliance jugs won't cut it while off-road. Yeah, I'd be pissed if one broke in the back of my car.Dezertbronco wrote:Yes I had one burst at the seams on my mojave road trip. wet sleepong bags suck. I am going to be using Rotopax on my next trip.shockseals.com wrote:I took a blue cube with spigot on a trail run and I was told the seams on them suck and I would probably end up with a blown out jug and a watered down cargo area. Anybody else ever have this experience or was this just one person's bad experience?
My rack now carries a 5 gallon nato can for water so it is no longer in the cargo area.

Re: Camping water jugs
Prepping for the Mojave trail trip and thinking about water jugs again.... I really like the big blue Reliant jugs work great when filling at camp but I've heard enough stories of them leaking when bouncing around the back of a truck so those are a no-go for a trip where water must be transported.
They get great reviews on Amazon and elsewhere.
I also came across this and thought it was cool: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/t ... ower-Build

same here. i have enough trouble storing stuff to worry about cleaning a jug..
there only like 2 bucks and you can toss them when done. the flow allows you to wash somthing if its somewhere with no running ot stream water and its still drinkable if you run out of drinking water.
ill grab two and a case of water ever camping trip. i also tell anyone who might be joining me to bring the own water. we end up heading home with some of it.

Re: Camping water jugs
Good timing for this thread to come back up. In my constant cleaning out & trying to get my garage in a manageable order after leaving the shop I'm coming across all sorts of crap to part with.
The most recent is these 2 water jugs. Old ones that have been used for camping in the past. Free to any GFB memeber who would like to come pick them up.
