I didn't work on the bronco....but I caged this Dodge neon for beater x racing....

Then... I finally got to work on the Bronco a bit...It is now almost 100% plumbed, but those pics are not worth posting.

I decided to add a ram to the steering. I have all the fittings and hose, just need to put the lines together.

I also finished up my accessory mounts and got them off to powder coat.

Here is the power steering pump mount all boxed in. I will have a small "tie-rod" to tension the mount off the water pump.

The Neon is for my buddy's kid. (The owner of the class 10 team I co-drive/chase with) And the BMW is his that we are going to race the Chump Car Series with.

Is there a benefit to coilover in front of beam vs on top or is it just driven by packaging?

Just curious, but what's your reason for mounting the coil in front of the bypass.

My main reason was I wanted to make sure it got as much heat as possible from the headers....

In all seriousness, there are a couple reasons I did it that way, but it mostly came down to packaging. On all our short course stuff we never ran bumpstops or limiting straps. Right now the suspension bumps on the bypass (about the same time my arm meets the frame) and tops out on the coilover. Like I said, this was sort of a carry over from short course racing, so if I have to I will add limit straps and bump cans in the future. When I mocked up my bypass in the front, I had some clearence issues with the tire/frame/bypass tubes in a full bump/full lock scenario. While it will hopefully never be an issue, I would rather have a tire hit the coilover (read not tear off bypass tubes, cheaper to replace) in the event that something breaks or I lose a wheel. I also liked the fact that it was back over where my beam and radius arm are welded together, I thought this was a little stronger than being on a mount in front of the beam creating a forward rotating force. I also felt it was less prone to damage in the back in the event I run into trees/cows/cactus/rocks/the back of Robby Gordon.

We also have coilovers in front of bypasses on the front beams of our class 3. And in our case it's because we built the truck using as many left over, cast-a-way, and free parts as we could get and we had 12" stroke bypasses and 14" stroke coilovers so that is what we used. If we ever buy shocks or get a sponsor for new shocks then we will swap them and use a 14" bypass and a 12" coilover.

With the C/O in front you can put a wrap on the coil protecting the shaft. It will also shield the BP shaft from debris.

Started on a radiator overflow tank while I'm waiting for some more of my plumbing stuff. It's all .080 aluminum. I know you can buy them for like 50-100 bucks, but then it wouldn't fit where I want it or take an extra long time to get done.

The last pic makes it look like it gets into the steering reservior due to the angle of the pic. It's close, but I have about 1/4"-1/2" clearance.

Thanks for the compliment on the tank, it's complete, I just have to mount it now. I have a few tabs welded on the front and back that bolt to chassis tabs. I haven't been able to give this thing much love lately as it has been a pretty busy summer, (moved to a new house, designed new suspension for the 10 car....) but I hope to be able to spend some time on it in the next couple weeks!

I have been working on my wiring diagram and collecting parts to start wiring it. Here is a center console I designed for it. It will all be 14 ga sheetmetal powdercoated white to match the truck, and the top plates will be black aluminum with the switch naming laser engraved in it. Just need to cut it out and put it together now. Here's some "progress" to look at.

Thanks! I'll have a few switches on the dash too, but I should probably end up with about 12-14 switches? I am still working on finalizing my wiring diagrams so that may change a bit. The two holes side by side are for a switch and a circuit breaker. I wanted to put the breaker and switch side by side to keep wiring short/simple, and to eliminate the need for a stand alone breaker panel.

You have probably said this already but what engine package have you decided on?

Here is what I have so far if any one has suggestions/comments/real life experiance. On the dash I have ignition, start, defrost, and wipers.
