I had one of those SC motors in my ranger years back. Made the thing scoot for sure, but I'd go 302 or 351 before that 3.8L if I ever did it again. 3.8L has more torque and about the same, maybe more HP than the STOCK 302, but the lack of aftermarket support for the things makes it semi expensive to get much more HP out of the things. Start with the 302 & it's cheaper to pull more power is my $0.02

Seems like it would be lots of work in transport & time sitting waiting for a buyer on the caged chassis once the motor & trans are out. To me it seems like there might not be enough profit in the parts there to sell vs. asking price of the whole thing & time involved in work to remove the parts &deal with selling them.

I agree, that's why I figured some ambitious gfb person my want to have a go at it. According to the guy it runs shifts ect. He just took the distributor out. If someone could get it for 400$ it might be worth getting. Sell trans, housing, carb, intake, headers, engine core seperate. I bet u could turn the 400$ into 1000+ if someone had the time,space, and will.

I wonder if they make the press in, conical inserts like they use when changing lug pattern in something that big?? I know when we have the alcoas from the 99+ super dookies changes to 8x6.5 lug pattern they use an off the shelf insert after milling the holes.

They sell both press in conical seat reducers and lug nuts that are sleeved with the reducer that still uses the existing conical seat. Not sure about sizing though.
