Manual T-case vs. Push button
I have a push button t-case and have found a manual t-case here in a wrecking yard in Phoenix. On half price day these things are cheap! Besides basically taking up the carpet, putting in the new floor board piece and the R&R of the case what else really needs to be done to work on a 95??

Re: Manual T-case vs. Push button
The manual shift cases are more reliable but if my truck already had an electric shift case I'd leave it. The only part that really fails on these is the motors and usually it's because their dirty and don't get used very often. My Explorer has an electric shift case and I use it several times a month. The only time it hasn't worked is when I first got it... most likely because it hadn't been used in years. I stuck a new motor on it and haven't had a problem since.
Sho nuff,

Re: Manual T-case vs. Push button
A manual and push button t-case is almost the same internally. One is not stronger than the other, but you would need a manual t-case, shifter, shifter boot, and any linkage that connects the two. I have done the swap in the past so a vehicle can be flat towed since I could not locate a ford kit to add neutral to the push button case.

Re: Manual T-case vs. Push button
If i ever have to replace mine it will be a manual just for the reason Philo mentioned. The biggest reason people prefer to swap over the manual is to alleviate concern of losing the shift motor when your out. I am up in the air on it so if I have to replace mine I will swap it to a manual but until then......The other reason I see folks swapping is to swap in a different transfer case all together.
