I'm ok with a 2 hour drive to see this ghost town.... We can carpool to save fuel.

It's another 2 hours... in the wrong direction! I really want to see Bodie but that's another 2 hours on top of 6-ish hours to the campground. I don't know if the fam will be up for that. BUT, we don't have to be together the entire time. I have no problem with people splitting up to do whatever....

It's a very nice drive Steve. Plenty of good scenery. Won't seem like 2 hours.

Let's do Bodie then! Can even catch some dirt on the way up or back. There's a graded road around the backside of Mono Lake that goes almost to Benton on hwy 6. Often see wild horses out there! Little blacktop, then we could take the dirt Chidago cyn road that comes out on 6 just a few miles from Bishop.
We could split into two groups for the return trip for those who need some dirt and for the hwy rigs. Just tossin' out ideas.

Post up any conflicts with the weekends of the 8th,15th or 22nd of june and we'll pick one. Great to see the interest as love showing off this country up here!

Bodie could be a day trip on the day after we arrive to camp maybe? I guess it depends on how long we'd be staying camping. The 6ish hour drive to the campground each way will make for a short time actually in the campground though if it's just a "weekend" trip we are shooting for.

I'm thinking if we were to go we may try & head out Fri evening and maybe crash somewhere 1/2 way depending on what time we leave. We'd then probably head out Sunday afternoon.

Try to come up thursday night if you can swing it and we can do two full days of runs. Bishop is only 4.5 to 5 hrs from LA and about 8 from San Diego. I do it in my sleep after all these years....haha

Yeah - you're about 5.5 to 6 hrs from me. And as much as I'd love to take a Friday off to do this days off work aren't really in the books for a while.

Yeah, forgot about the extra time getting in and out of OC. No sweat, we'll make the Bodie run on saturday. How's the 22nd of June for everyone?

There is also the mt Whitney fish hatchery (which is pretty cool for the whole family) just south of bishop. The drive north out of bishop is the most gorgeous highway scenery I have ever seen. I've seen a few jeep clubs taking side roads around there too.
