Don - good point on the U-joint. I hadn't thought it through quite that far yet.

Philo - I think if we can get this done without welding to the snout, we would be better off in the long run. While I'm not 100% against it, I would really like to try and keep it bolt on. You said you have most of the parts laying around to try this? You also mentioned you could create a CAD file? I am not familiar with Draftsight, but can you create a .DXF? I need a .DXF for laser programming. I have the parts I need to try prototyping as well, but they are up in storage, and for now I don't feel like making sideways progress on my project. I will probably keep the stockers just to get running, but would definately like to go this direction when I wear these parts out.

Draftsight will do .dfx files for cutting. I have everything here except Wilwood calipers. I'm not sure which ones you have either. I do have a ton of PBR calipers here as well as a bunch of different knuckles and spindles.

I would also like to avoid welding to the knuckles or spindles. Bolt on is the way to go for me.

I have the Wilwood Dynapro's. But I figure any changes required to the brake mounting bracket to accomodate caliper changes should be relatively small. When your ready send me the .DXF for the bracket, and we'll start the skunkworks.

Got it. Which Wilwood Dynapro caliper do you have? 5.25 spacing and for a 1.25 thick rotor?

I have the narrow one for a .375" thick rotor. I believe it is the same caliper just missing a few spacers they put in the middle. I will try and look for dimensions tonight. Got your info, thanks!

I think they are these, but I will measure to verify.

The PBR caliper I plan on using is huge compared to that. It looks to have a 5.0625 or 5.125 spacing.

I'm not familiar with a PRB caliper. What is the background info on it? i.e., what is it off? easy to get? cost? We can design to the PBR caliper if it makes sense, and I can modify whatever bracket we come up with to run the calipers I've got.

These particular calipers are from 2003 Mustang Cobra. These same calipers come on a lot of Baer kits, Corvettes, GTOs, Camaros, and others. Cheap, available at auto parts stores, and work relatively well. A radial mount Brembo Monobloc works a little better and has a little better feedback but it's way more of a pain to mount and cost is higher.

Rod will like this kit as parts are probably easy to come by in his parts.

Good to know Philo - thanks! I'd heard of some people using/liking the mustang calipers off the newer cars, but I didn't know they were the same thing used on a bunch of cars & were that readily available.

OK, been slowly plugging along on this thing. Like I have posted before, I am in the plumbing and wiring stages, and progess is getting harder to document! Here is what I have so far.

I have had to machine a spacer to get the water pump pulley flush with the crank pulley. (In the pic I still had machining to do, so the pulley is still too far forward.)

I also got the mufflers hung, and need to finalize the rest of the exhaust once my headers are finish welded.

I mounted my trans cooler, and oil cooler, and am now waiting for fittings to show up. The oil cooler mounts right above the trans cooler in the pic, and all the plumbing will be run together down the chassis. The cooler is in backward in the pic, the fittings will be on the passenger side.

Lasly, I got some more of the firewall out of the way. I kept the mounts for the cowl, as well as the wipers, as I want to have wipers for prerunning duty. I still have to do the finish grinding.

I also ordered my 9" shim kit and drive flanges, so I hope to be rolling soon!

Thanks! I still have some cad files that could be tweaked for diesel exhaust...just sayin' haha.

Nice! I'd love to but I think I'm going to stick with traditional hangers here for a now.
I'm quickly running out of funds with all this "bling" I'm having professionally cut vs. taking the time & cutting via bandsaw. If I had access to a laser my truck would never be done (well - it's take even longer than it already is!) as I'd be messing with doing everything in cad with fancy pancy designs, etc.

Yep! I hear ya on that! When I started my bronco 7 years ago, it was going to be a simple leaf sprung, coil bucket truck with a rollcage and some decent shocks. Get out and have some fun in class 3 for cheap! Years later it has coilovers, bypasses, new leaf hangers, a built motor, crossover steering, custom headers...blah blah blah, and it's still not done. I finailly hit the point about 6 mounts ago where I decided I was done with sideways/backwards/re-engineered progress, I was just going to get the thing done!

On a side note, I do my best to keep your hammer off the 'ole piggy bank!
