Ok. I lied. More Baja prep required. After a near miss yesterday, I decided to mount my spare drive shaft. Big thank you goes to Bryan at Desert Concepts for being gracious enough to keep the shop open late so I could swap a u-joint and Nick for hauling my butt around for 2 hours to locate one. Unfortunately it's an oddball and I didn't have a spare in my arsenal. Now I do!

I was just feeling in the dumps and discouraged on my 91 project but luckily I can look through threads like this and regain my motivation. Thanks yikes! Haha. I like th spare driveshaft mount. I had a mount.on my old 92 between the body sewn.and frame. Never needed it but awesome to have just in case. I'd think that goes double.in the desert or baja

Awesome Brian! Perfect hide-a-way for that spare driveshaft.

Also a good spot for the opener. Where did you happen to find that bottle opener?

What a good idea... Mounting the shaft under the body. Wish I had thought of that...

Post Barstow impressions:

The new Peterbuilt leaf pack was awesome! Not a stiff ride at all. Valving worked well too, but the added spring rate has me contemplating putting some rebound back in to control it a bit better from full stuff. I think a combination of .015's and .020's will end up in there, but haven't decided how I want the stack to look yet. Straight .020's cause packing in tight whoops. Straight .015's result in just a bit of bucking, even with the bypass closed. It's nice getting that back end to drop out though and it's nice having enough rate to prevent bottoming in most conditions. I think some added rebound and bumps will keep me happy for a bit, but will wait until after the mil to mess with it anymore.

After that it's on to new front axles so I can hammer in 4wd again. Hate 2wd and short wheelbase.

Will be staying at a house just a couple miles out of Ensenada. Are you going to contingency? I'll wear my GFB hat, so if you see one, stop and say hi, Erik.
