Baja Trip Aug .....What's on your to do list?

The steering box was rebuilt by an out fit here in the Pheonix area called Benchworks.
It is a Ford box, someday I will convert to a Saginaw like on the race Bronco.

I've just got to change the oil and get some of those tubular frame stiffener things in, then mine is good to go!

Ok, yeah, i'm going through the same thing... had the stock box rebuilt by Tommy Lee and it really needed it. I want to upgrade to the big Saginaw box... Tommy is working on one for me... can't wait to get it and install it.

My rear diff has a started to leak... Right at the pinion seal that was replaced about 5k ago. Sweet.

Bottom of the pumkin has a nice film on it and 2 or 3 drops hit the ground when i park it.

If it keeps loosing pinion seals you may need a speedi sleeve or new yoke.

Im thinking a new yoke. Might have to hit the bone yard this weekend unless someone has one for a GM14 bolt..

Bone yard stuff will be just as bad. Yukon sells these new.

Not yet, but after I do get it back I'm anticipating another weekend of cage work at home, then reinstalling the interior. It's going to be close. Will most likely be working on it the night before we leave. Haha!

I'm with Philo on this... you'll be much better in the long run with a sleeve or new yoke... the used stuff from the wrecking year will most likely be worse. You may want to just replace the seal and give it a try... I had a massive leak, much worse than yours and the new pinion seal did the job... my yoke has some pretty bad grooves, but the new seal did it! May be worth just a quick replacement and see what happens.

Im going to look into it this weekend, what is the sleeve you guys are talking about? Ive never taken the yoke off, anything i should know? Seems pretty strait foreward by looking at it. Take straps off u joint, drop drive shaft out of the way, break loose whatever nut is holding the yoke to the housing and replace??

I ordered a new seal and yoke. I figure if i have to take the yoke off to get to the seal i may as well just replace it if i determine that the yoke shaft itself is the problem.
On a side note while i was greasing zerks this weekend i noticed that my headers had began to melt through the sheathing on the wiring harness from the trans so i wrapped that up and tied it out of the way. Changed the oil and topped off the coolant aswell. Im almost ready!
