No problem!! We thought about going into the frame like you mentioned in your second option, but opted to do something a little less complex. Since the cage has a fast back design, in the event of a roll, the rear of the roof is likely going to take a harder hit initially anyways.

Not saying its right, wrong, or indifferent, just the methodology we used to come to that decision.

Yep! It starts with Harbor Freight magnets and before you know it, you're upside down, balancing 2 x 4's. LOL

Tony, that looks awesome. Are you using regular steel wire/welding rod for the plating? There was a post on RDC recommending using silicon bronze rod / wire for the plating to the cab.

Looks like 3/32 ER70S-2 rod.

Brazing it with silicon bronze is less likely to crack the sheet metal but I doubt either way would have problems on this truck.

The silicon bronze works really well for thick to thin metal joining because it's soft a flexes. It absorbs the flex of everything a chassis absorbs. Since your cab and frame are still separate those joints will not see as much movement which would cause cracking. On top of that it was welded correctly (not a solid bead, broken up every few inches).

It's kinda like welding to hydro formed heat treated frames... you are not supposed to do it in theory, but there is hundreds of trucks built that way without problems.
