Spray in bed liner questions

Who has their interior sprayed? You like it or regret it? How much did it set you back? Difference in sound?

The guy trying to sell me on it say's its "great" for sound deadening. I don't believe him. Is it?
He's saying $650-750 is a smokin' deal with me pulling the interior and this is just plain black no color option.
He on;y had one texture, did you use the hard slippery plastic or the sticky rubber style?
If I'm wrong let me know please. My interior needs to be addressed soon and before I heard the price I thought this would be a good idea.

650-750 sounds pricey.

What are you trying to accomplish? A plush quiet interior, or protection that you can rinse out?

If plush, new carpet on eBay is around 300 and you can spend another 150-200 on a ton of dynmat or fatmat and end to with a quit interior.

If you wanna rinse it out after a day in the dirt, might wanna look at herculiner or lizard skin.

What!? I can't have both? LOL A compromise leaning towards buff and low maintenance would be nice. I don't need any frills but would like to avoid building a complete rattle box. Right now I have home carpeting in the back. Works for now just shopping around for the future. Thinking I'm gonna sell all my other toys and focus on the bronco. If there is a bitchin do everything liner that costs a little more I may do it.

FWIW....I did the liner on my bronco in the beginning and regretted it. You get a ton of heat from the floor and its really noisy. I ended up re carpeting it. One option for a maintenance aspect would be to get the molded rubber liner and insulate/dynamat under it. While the spay liner is tempting in some aspects I would not go that route again.

A concept that i have been thinking about is dynomat or sound deadening matt first, and then lizard skin on top of that. I would think that if the lizard skin was applied thick enough it would not be a problem with the dynomat underneath sloughing off, but that is the question. Any thoughts?

I was thinking about the lizard skin too.I like the insulation properties. I would think that to really get the protection though you would need to have the dynomat on top of the skin. I dont think you would get the proper adhesion to the matt going the other way. Is lizard skin still available? Last time I looked their website looked as if it was headed the way of the buffalo?

My spray-in rubber type liner does a great job of keeping the interior weatherproof and washable, but does diddly squat in regards to noise and heat insulation. If I was to do it over again, I would do the two lizard skin spray-in systems (sound and heat) and THEN a spray-in bedliner.

I haven't done it yet but I've always wanted to & plan on it.
As for the $650-$750 cost - that's not a bad deal from what I've heard guys paying to get stuff sprayed. Depending on what exactly is sprayed of course. Is this Line-X or what?

Also, a LOT of the $ is in the time to prep the thing though, so if you asked if you could do that part yourself I bet you could save a bit more $$.

I've always thought I was going to spray both the inside AND underside of the cab on my trucks since I'm not a fan of carpet in a truck & from what I have heard (before this) the stuff works pretty well for sound deadening. WHAT I was going to spray it with has been the variable over the years. At 1st I thought Line-X, but that is some good $$. My next thought was Al's Liner, which you can spray yourself. I've seen some good reviews on this & it is a bit cheaper than Line-X or a commercially sprayed option. Recently I've heard good things about Lizard Skin since a buddy did that & then a similar version of the stuff that costs a bit less than lizard skin.
I'm really hoping the bedliner actually helps with sound deadening as it is pretty dang dense. I guess you could throw carpet over the stuff if you really wanted to, but I'd try & avoid that personally. I don't know if dynomat type stuff could go over Line-X type stuff. I'm guessing it could, but personally I wouldn't like the look of it as I again wouldn't want to put carpet over it.

I have heard (but have no personal experience with) that this is not a good idea - for the reason you mention. The bedliner would be using the dynomat for attaching to the body. So therefore the liner would pull off the outside of the dynomat, OR if it actually adhered properly to that it would pull the dynomat off the cab.

I haven't looked at their site in a while so they may be, but I have a buddy who used a knock off type deal that has the same qualities but costs a bit less. So far he's been very happy with it. I can see if I can get the info from him if you guys would like.

Steve I would be interested in the knock off info.....I like the ceramic properties of the Lizard Skin which should do a great job on the heat insulation as far as the liner I used I dont remember the name it was a reputable brand it cost about 80 a gallon at the time. My results probably would have been better if I had rolled it thicker as well. I wish i could remeber the name of the stuff but it wasnt as dense or rubbery as Line X or rhino....it has held up well though. It just did not do everything I expected.

My $0.02, I think Lizard Skin has 2 products the ceramic heat insulation and a sound deadener and they can be "stacked" ....

That is correct. 2 different products & can be sprayed over one another. Just costs more as you are buying 2 things...
