Spray paint......what do you guys use?

Alright, so you can't necessarily powder coat everything, what do you guys do for spray paint...... Primer then a coat of gloss and call it done? What brand works good, etc etc

I use 99c Walmart semi gloss on frames and undercarriage stuff. Primer of any sort works.

It only costs a dollar to touch up...

I use the 2x coverage primer valspar brand and then the hammered finish black on all my parts I paint. It looks powder coated when done and covers any scratches in the surface. Take a look at randys beams.

I use a clearcoat over my spray paint work. It helps protect it against scratches. You saw my front fenders, those were spray painted unprofessionally by me. It looks better than the rest of my bronco.

Rustoleum works well and goes down thick. It is available in a gallon container and rolls well too. It beats most other aresols on durability with things like construction equipment trailers. Where I do not like it is in applications that will be topcoated with a true automotive paint. I have found compatibility issues with Rustoleom and other paints. It takes a long time to dry too. The black will fade after a while.

If I do not really care about it, but dont want it to rust I hit it with 99c Walmart paint. When doing bodywork I will paint with 99c paint to show flaws or areas that need more attention. It dries real quick and is mostly solvent that usually does not have reactions with "good" paint.

I use the Rustoleum primer rattlecan, then a light sanding followed by the Rustoleum indoor/outdoor semi-gloss black. Paint doesn't have any rust prohibiting properties except keeping things air tight, so a coating of primer really helps a good seal and base coat. If it's perfectly clean metal, use clean metal primer. If it's not perfect, use rusty metal primer.

If i dont want a tone of prep i use self etching primer then paint more lighter coat s better finsh

Seymour Cast Blast is excellent stuff!

It's a dark grey cast iron color, hence the name. Dries fast. Durable. Easy to touch up.

X2....The rustoleum semi gloss is a bit pricey but looks great, holds up well, cleans easy and is easy to touch up. I used it on the ranger frame and parts. The HD $. 99 stuff is what I used to paint the trailer. Worked very well.

A little trick I was taught a while back to make spray paint look good, is to always paint towards your overspray. It makes a big difference in the final product.
