2011 MORE Holiday 200 pics!
We had an absolutely terrific time...what a great race! Bill and I headed up on Saturday morning to help two teams, primarily the Fogle Motorsports racing team, car 1620. It was Christopher's first race and it was also the debut of his new 1600 car. The car ran well all day! He finished mid-pac but raced well all day long! What an epic race for his inaugural!
We departed Bill's shop at 0300 and made the pit meeting at 0630. We swapped out one of Bill's 39's for a couple of spares, dropped off a new Maratrac base radio for the race team which left us just enough time to zip out and make our watch/spot/pit/radio relay at RM 23.
It was nice and nippy early on, and then the wind whipped up at about 0830 ish which cut right through you! We had a blast, good vantage point and some very good racing. Bill brought along his radar gun and we marked lap times, speeds and positions for the team. Inbetween, I snapped a few pictures!
We had to blast out of there early as we had tickets to the Fresno State Bulldog v San Diego Aztec football game that night. Kickoff was 1700 so we headed south at about 1300... had lunch and made kickoff with only minutes to spare.
Sorry we had to leave early Matt, we didn't catch your "big loop" run as we had to leave prior to that portion of the race. But I hear you did great!
All-in-all, just a great day... but I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to run into the GFB team! Sorry guys, I'm really not antisocial!

I'm sorry gents but I have to agree with Nick. That blazer was killer! Also Bills prerinner is ridiculous too. I just couldn't afford the oil change let alone anything else!
I'm just here for the views. It helps me feel wanted.

Re: 2011 MORE Holiday 200 pics!
Tom great pics sorry we missed you saw the cheby pre runner though haha....as for the Kaveman team what a great race!
First off I have to give huge thanks to everyone that came out to support us not only this race but throughout the season. I speak for Matt and Gary as well on this we COULD NOT DO IT WITHOUT YOU! I dont have the words to express my most sincere gratitude to all of you. Especially when I am unable to be there, I rest easier knowing you are there watching out for us. So a huge Thank You!
Onto the race....Tech Friday was uneventful and cold....Sat though the race started about 830 with the 990 starting in 5th. We hit the small loop (13miles) with a competitive pack of 9 cars all driving for all they were worth. At the end of lap one the entire field of 9 cars came through within 2 min of each other with 990 holding 4th. By Lap 2 Matt and Gary had muscled their way to second place 8 seconds behind 223 with the pack still tight. Lap 3 had Matt and gary in 1st by 10 seconds and the field was breaking up quickly. Lap 4 had 923 and 990 swapping places with 990 8 seconds behind. By lap 4 923 and the 990 broke away from the field with about a 3 min gap between them and 3rd place. Laps 5,6,7 on the small loop held the same with the 2 top cars opening their lead and racing each other the entire way. The Kaveman pits lept into action as we transitioned to the big loop with a great pit stop for fuel and a look over of the car. Though not timed the stop was less than 2 min with the 15 people descending upon the 990 and sending them on their way, GREAT JOB guys and gals!
The big loops were exciting for the 990 as Matt and Gary never lost sight of the 923 car unfortunately a 1400 truck got in between the two cars on Lap 8 that slowed Matt enough to allow 923 to open from him. In the end the 990 finished 2 min out of first and about 15 min ahead of the 3 place car 924.
For 2011 the 990 finished 3rd in point with only a 4 point separation from the championship. What an exciting end to a great year for the team. Though a win would have been sweet the race was clean and Matt drove the 990 as hard as he could.
Thank you again to everyone for your support and encouragement through the season!
Great pics too!
Edit...I almost forgot to add CONGRATULATIONS TO MATT FOR ACHIEVING FAST LAP FOR ALL 9s ON THE SMALL LOOP!!!!
