Actually, I was talking leakage around the 6 tubes that go through the piston. I don't remember those having seals on them.

What!? Maybe it's time to ditch those stupid bypass tubes and put standard pistons in them.

Haha! No, fortunately it was the rear shocks....with readily available parts. Think I'm just going to leave it for the trip. Tired of messing with everything.

No DU bearings either... tons free bleed.

Big thanks for all the help T! I brought my junk to his house late last night, set him up to fail and he pulled through and got all the lights wired and working by 11pm. Haha! Sorry man. Next time I'll buy the harnesses.

No worries at all B!!! Shoot, glad you came over, we would have never known the ballast were bad!!

Got the spaghetti cleaned up today. One ballast seems to be limping along. Sometimes it fires, others no. Driveshaft has been rebuilt for a third time. This time it should be right. Going out for a test drive in a few minutes.

It's the driver's side outer that's the problem. Checked the leads and all appears to be ok, but it just won't come on sometimes. Switched to one of the old ballasts, but they're definitely dead. Could the new one be faulty?

Test drive went great. No vibration through 80mph, so it's good to go. Woohoooo!!

Ill order up some spare ballast and bring with me to Baja. Glad the shaft worked out B... those guyus always did us right on the Jeepspeed I used to chase for.

Thanks T! Now that I've driven it a few times the vibration seems to have knocked it into shape. Haha! Last few times I've turned it on it worked fine.

Got my amber moved to the top...finally. Now I won't cut my head on the stinkin' thing any more. Haha! Still have it wired to the cargo light switch for now though.

I cut the top of the hole 1/32 below the ridge/style line to keep it up as high as possible. Any lower and the internal rib for the rear window molding would obstruct the install. It was a snug fit, but it's in. I think you can run wires through the inside of the top over to one side. Haven't tried that yet. Just ran the wires through the access port to the cargo light for now.
