Mine get just about exactly 60 feet of break in, from the garage to the trailer!

Clutches only do one thing..............wear!

The new planetaries might like to a couple hundred miles to get used to their new surroundings, otherwise there is nothing in there that needs to be babied.

Brian, it takes a couple hundred miles for the computer to learn the trans. It may still be shifting hard from learning your old trans.

The trans itself should not need any break in.

Sweet. My concern is the shifts aren't as positive as they were before. Ken put another shift kit in, so maybe he left it on the loose side. Wouldn't think so, but who knows.

Your old trans may have slipped enough to put itself into protection mode... Which would have very positive shifts.

Way to go Brian!! I noticed it with my new trans from Tony. You'll find after a while you'll get some quicker shifts rather than firmer ones. I've noticed it lately. No lag at all. Its very nice. Great to hear you got it rollin' again!

Thanks man!

So, I've got a bad vibration over 60mph. I thought it might have been the drive shaft out of phase, but I rotated the slip joint 180 and no change. There is some play in the pinion. No leak, but definitely play. That sound like the problem?

My pinion was wayyyyy loose when my 8.8 went away and I drove it home from the Offroad Expo at 65-80 mph without a vibration.

Yup! Wasn't the pinion at all. It was the drive shaft. The recently re-tubed drive-shaft with new u-joints. Banning Driveline = WAFJ. Haven't said too much about these guys up until now, but it's time. I put the rear up on jacks and put the trans in 1st. Drive shaft has over .10" run out. It's bad. Put my spare in. It was done by those donkey kongs too, but it had about half as much run out. Took it for a freeway run and sure enough, it had about half the vibration. I've been to BD 6 times over the past 5 years. The first couple of times they did good work. Now it's pure crap. It seems ownership has changed hands. The employees have changed, the knowledge has changed and the attitude has changed. I pulled the boot off to find a terrible, terrible weld where they shortened the tube. My spare was originally out of phase and had the wrong seal, because they were out of the correct one. Haha! WAFJ! Oh! and did I say...WAFJ!!! Stay away from BANNING DRIVELINE. They will leave you stranded.

Now...GOOD NEWS! I just have to get the shocks rebuilt, replace some hood stops, make a couple of mounts for spares, re-tube my driveshaft and the Bronco will be ready for Baja!! Woohoooo!

OK. I'm baffled. Can't seem to figure out exactly why my front clip moves so much and tries to shake the hood off. What would happen if the shock hoops were tied to the body where it's been reinforced at the hood hinges? Would it blow out the A pillar or just add some rigidity to the front end? Just trying to come up with a temporary fix until I can get a cage in it. Let me qualify temporary - it will most likely have to do for the next 1.5-2 years. Haha! Anyway, got a better idea?

my core support was tied into my firewall at the hinge points, honestly...it sucked even with a fiberglass hood i could watch the front clip shimmy and shake. diddnt you put a strut bar from your shock hoop to the core support? thats where your problem is in my opinion. try and take that out and see what it does. with the c/o in place of the coil spring...thats how much more flex your frame has.....

Mine did the opposite, when I tied in my strut bar to the core support, stiffened everything up, and it is pretty nice and tight.
