I don't think so. Check ball locations changed from year to year and a lot of stuff changed from 91 to 96 internally.

I got this off the FSB valve body thread posted by Paul "the PUNISHER" who builds valvebodys for lightnings and broncos.

"the castings i refer to are in the valve body itself. if your bronco has the original trans. say a 93.... you will have an E9 casting in the v/b...it goes like this:

E9 89-94
F5 95
F6 96-2004"
'96 XLT 5.8l lil edelbrock, lil Autofab, LOTTA fun.

"I wouldnt even call adding beer as part of a prep...its like putting tires on the vehicle, you just do it."

That's pretty much basic Ford Engineering code numbers where the 1st letter is the decade and second nubmer is the year.

All my 70's stuff is D code for the 1st digit. For example something built in 76 would start D6 xxx xx.

C = 60's, D = 70's, E = 80's and F = 90's

Was getting a spare ready to put in and noticed a crack in the stub axle. This was the factory original I pulled out of my Bronco 5 or so years ago.

...and today Mr Mogi said "That'll be $3300". Haha! He should have it finished up on Monday. What's interesting is, I thought the planets were steel in '96, but apparently not and that's what nuked. He's replacing the stripped aluminum units with the good stuff.

Wow! What once was splines now looks like precision bored aluminum. Forgot to bring the planetaries home for a picture though. What a mess it was. After talking with Ken Mogi about everything he had done, I wondered if there were any original parts left. He doesn't leave anything alone. Only time will truly tell, but as of right now I would say it was truly money well spent. Now I've got a trans that can handle 600hp and will run up to 250dgr all day. Woohoooo!!

Here she is. She isn't perty, but it's what's on the inside that counts. In all honesty, I was a little surprised she didn't get a bath, but I suppose it makes no difference anyway.

The convertor has a billet back half, an anti-ballooning plate and according to Ken, has a lower stall speed with a better torque multiplier. Maybe I'll get more than 4.5mpg towing the trailer. Haha! Oh! and she special! It says so right on her face.

Picked up a mechanical temp gauge. Planning to monitor the temperature for a while before blowing another wad on hi-zoot coolers. Ran 160k with the factory stuff, so no sense in stepping it up without justification.

nice brian! i am hoping to be tearing into my c-6 pretty soon and ordering some nick-nacs from winters performance for it. did you go with a manual valve body? i think thats what im going to do,as i found out while completely ragging on my bronco a couple weeks ago in Paisley,i like to shift alot and use the lower gears manually while doing the baja drift around corners....what a blast!! :D
hope to see you out using this thing soon, its been way to long for it to be collecting dust in your driveway!

My case looked the same as yours after spending an hour in a steam cleaner. Aluminum is very porous. I've never looked on an E4OD 4wd extension housing, is it offset to the driver side?

What all was done to the transmission?
My car is a hybrid; it burns gas and rubber.

I don't believe there is a manual for these, but there is that Baumann electronics upgrade that works in a similar fashion; however, I did none of the above. In all honesty, I've never had a problem holding it in gear either. It'll bounce off the rev limiter all day long. Haha!

No, I believe it's concentric, but I'll have a closer look today.

The aluminum planetaries were replaced with steel. The 2nd planet now has 6 orbital gears instead of 4 and the OD planet has 4 instead of 3.

The forward drum was upgraded to a heat treated version

The 1st and 2nd sprags were replaced with a heavy duty units

Bronze thrust washers were replaced with Torrington bearings in the planets

Bronze bushings were replaced with needle bearings

Heavy duty clutches

MLPS sensor replaced

Solenoid pack replaced ($386)

That's all I remember at this point.
