Rear suspension

So the 96 that I am building started out with a pro comp 6" lift. I replaced the front suspension with the Giant engine cage and King coilovers. The rear now has King double bypass supplied by Giant. I did not replace the rear springs so they are basically just stock springs with the pro comp add a leaf. The truck is making a lot of HP and TQ and always feels like you are doing a wheel stand when you get in the throttle. The whole truck looks like it is sitting a bit high also. Is this normal? what do I need to do? Deavers,shackle flip? Thanks for any help.

Your rear will squat when under throttle this is not a bad thing. You should defiantely consider replacing the stock springs but that is more to take advantage of the front and matching the rear in ability. You currently will gbe limited on droop and the spring rate will be goofy with the add a leaf. I am currently running the Deaver J40s with an extended shackle and its a great set up. Alot of folks also like the J53 (F-150) 2.5" wide spring. Both springs work very well and the extended shackle will get the rear down a little bit.
BTW the more compliant springs in the front set up and much different valving in the bypasses accentuates the "Wheel stand" feeling. Through a pic of the truck in as well it helps us see what your describing on the height issues. You have the start to a great set up!

My truck does the exact opposite. With Autofab leaves and 2-link the rear end plants hard on acceleration. If I power brake, the rear will lift up a couple inches.

I would start with a good set of leaves.

Mark Keifer makes them so you don't have to cut into the body.

A lot of us are running stock shackles with long travel leaves. If you want longer, I would use Mark's. Cutting up your truck is lame.

Smart move, I am running the Camburg shackles and had to cut my truck up a bit to get them to move through swiftly, and yes it sucked.

Good choice. Plus he makes them look real pretty with those perfect welds. Best 200 I spent for shackles. I'll post pics. Putting them on tonight.

Get it right - I've got 4 or more now... And 1 running...

Not sure what that has to do with this point though T????? 1 man can only build so much at 1 time... Since I refuse to write checks or let others touch/work on my stuff and since I do have a day job still the stuff takes time.

I know. Just didn't get how that fit into the comments above.

My comment was obviously a joke, but I have ZERO qualms about cutting into my trucks! Granted if I feel the proper result can be achieved without cutting then I'm all for it. Sometimes cutting can't be avoided though. I'm u in the air on the shackle thing as it's more of a "clearancing" thing than really cutting into the truck.

It is a cutting thing.. and its one of the worst places to cut a bronco.. you have to cut the main body crossmember that holds the entire ass of your bronco together..... its not going to work out very good in the long run.. try to open the gate on one that has been cut then prerun... good luck..
