If i go, you would be more than welcome to ride with me.
That would be great, Nick. I'll supply all the beer and go halves with you for gas, food, etc. if you want to go. :D :D

That would be awesome to have you come down!!

Nick, I know you want to take your ride in the dirt a little!!

Hey Rod,
Let me get this straight... you're flying from Sydney to LA (or thereabouts)here for a one weekend, overnight trip down to Mex with the group?

That would be most excellent, but I smell another April fool's joke here!

I wont be flying in for a weekend, more like 2 weeks at the least. Flying from Melbourne to LA sucks (15 hours) but I will probably go Air New Zealand via Aukland. ANZ is great, lots of free beers and great food. Unlike some, I don't April Fool, mate. :D I might buy a Bronco to bring along. As much as I would enjoy co-dawging, I would like to drive my own rig down there and back. Absolutely no offence, Nick, I'd be happy to come with you, but if I have a rig, I'm happy to bring along anyone who's rig is down or wants to come along for the ride. :) :)

Hey, Navy, IF and I say IF, I get a rig to drive when I visit, I would be happy to have you along. I'd hate to have a GFB buddy miss out due to no fault of their own. :D :D

thanks man, more worried about being able to take time off/living someplace close enough to make it.

My bronco isn't going anywhere, I have lots of other assets that would get sold off first if I run out of money.

Is that a hint, Philo? I'm not sure the airline will appreciate me trying to stuff a diesel straight axle Hilux in with my check-in luggage :D

Just saying... it's midway between here and there. It's also an easy way for me to title an Australian vehicle in the US...

Now you have no excuse Steve, get the Super Bad Super Cab done by this run. Or at least the four door.

I flew to Sydney and back on Quantas' new 380 in Feb. Absolutely fantastic flight... that new airplane was great. Great service, great chow and the airplane was very comfortable for the long duration flight.

Have been discussing with the master planners, and figured I would put this out there now. Travel Agenda:

Friday, meet in San Diego approximately 5pm, caravan together to Ensenada. Assume arrive at hotel approx 7pm. Looking to book a hotel with gate and guards for security, during a non race weekend, hotels are approximately $50-$60, so if you share, would be a $25-$30 expense. Friday night can be dinner, tacos, and beers. Just basically hang out.

Saturday would be an early start, gather approx 7am for breakfast, and on the road by 8. We could then do Ensenada thru Ojos, then cross the highway and head south through Tres Hermonos (GREAT section), hang a left and then on to El Alamo. We'll come out on the highway again and we can turn north and head up to the turnoff for the national park. That run is a few miles and then split off and head up to the Compadre truck trail. That should be an easy day's run barring any carnage (shouldn't be any, it's not a tough trail, but you never know). If I broke it into sections, the run from Ensenada to Ojos should take a max of 2-hrs. The run from Ojos to El Alamo should take another 2, then the run from El Al up to Tecate, let's say 3. That's 7 hours at an easy pace. Then add 2 hours for stops, pics, eats, etc. That's 9 hrs total... (thanks Tom for the tips!!)

Cross the border in TKT, and everyone can head home from there. We can plan for meals on Saturday as the dates get closer. I would anticipate this is about 100 miles of dirt. And now that gas is cheaper in mexico, it is cheaper than heading out to Barstow hahahah

Not gonna happen. Even if the 4 door is done it won't be running long enough before the trip to have worked the bugs out so it won't be going...

Supercab - there isn't a snowball's chance in hell it would be even close to ready.
