YIKES! - ANNOUNCEMENT

I am so stoked to be able to finally do this! It's been so hard to keep it a secret for the past 6 months and now I've been given the ok to let the cat out of the bag. Anyone notice that I haven't been posting on here much? Haha!

Approximately 1 year ago I met Jimmy Nuckles through a good friend of mine. He invited me to one of his test sessions (that was quite a drive) to check out the truck. At the end of the day he offered to take me for a quick ride. Holy shiznit! That got me so amped. He let me have a helmet and away we went. I asked loads of questions about the truck during the ride and he answered as if I was well, somebody. Haha!

A few weeks later he asked if I could come out again. Wow! Really?! This time he was interested in have me co-dawg. I thought "You've gotta be shitn' me!", but he was serious. No questions asked I headed out again for the very long haul. Thankfully the Honda gets good mileage. Anyway, after the session he asked how I liked it and in an attempt to completely blow the opportunity, I told him I really wanted to drive. Yeah, he laughed. Haha! I felt like an idiot, but fortunately he liked my abilities in the right seat and invited me back. He then asked if I could be ready for the Baja 500 this year. Now keep in mind, this was back in October of last year.

Time passed and I made a few more trips out to his neck of the woods to get familiar with the truck and basically learn my job. Well one day he asks if I want to take it out for a quick drive. I just about shit myself! What?!?!?! Hell yes! This was living a dream. So I get in this thing and am nervous as can be. In fact, I couldn't keep my foot steady on the gas pedal. It was like on and off with all my nervous shakes. Reality is, my nervousness was because he was in the right seat and I wanted to put on a good show. Yeah right! I couldn't drive! What?!?!?! No!?!?!?! It was awful! I was scared and twitchy and failing miserably. Nooooooooo!! He got a few good laughs in and we headed back to the trailer.

After getting back home and thinking about it, I knew I could drive that truck. I knew it! So I got the nerve up to give him a call requesting another chance behind the wheel. Haha! What an idiot, hugh? But he said he understood my nervousness, as he was there once as well and that I could give it a go again after the next test session. It happened...

We got out to some spot in Philo's neck of the woods. Not sure what the name of the place is. All I could think about was driving that truck. Jimmy had a great day. Truck looked dialed and fast. He was happy. Since i had ridden in the right seat for quite a few sessions now, I had a better idea how to handle the truck...working the throttle through the rough and not over steering. That back end comes around fast with 800hp. I shamelessly reminded Jimmy that I wanted another chance to drive. I was a little embarassed, but hey, you only live once and once again, he graciously handed me the keys, so to speak.

This time I was less nervous and more prepared. after a couple hours in the right seat I was ready for the terrain. Shit that is a ride!!! Still can't get over it! Anyway, I rolled it out slow and got the feel of things. It took about 15min before I could even think about giving it some throttle. He never said let's go back, so I just kept working it through the terrain, all the time just completely amazed how the big suspension rolled through the rough terrain. I accidentally blurped the gas at one point and launched it 3-4 feet in the air. It was a rush. I said "Sorry!" and he laughed and said I was doing pretty good. After 30min I started to get comfortable and even mashed the skinny pedal through some narly sections a couple times. I could feel my face blushing in embarassment, just waiting for him to say "Whoaaaa!" and tell me to head back, but he never did! It was freakin awesome!!! I still get chills thinking about that day.

OK, I'm out of time. I'll fill in the rest later, but long story short.... You're looking at Jimmy Nuckles co-DRIVER for the Baja 500 this year. He's giving me a chance at about a 100 mile leg in the middle of the race.

I've got to get them off of my camera, but for those who haven't seen it, here's a couple shots. Oh and yeah, it's a Racer...ish TT. Didn't ask the specifics, but there have been a few hands in it. Seems I heard Porter started the build. Makes BJ's look like a 6 truck, doesn't it? Burly!
