Paint job, need opinions.

Post by fixxor »

So I am going to get this thing painted finally and want to keep the original colors. Painting it all red just dont look right to me I like the two tone. Just wondering if anyone would have an opinion on what I came up with.

Original:

1st chop, this dont really look right. But maybe if I got used to it.

2nd: Cut down the two tone on the outer crease.

3rd. Cut down the two tone to the inner crease. I think it looks cleaner.

Thanks.

I like the second one. Kinda emphasizes the 80-86 styling ... shows the curvyness

On the 1st chop, try losing the tan in front of the wheel. My 95 Eddie Bauer has the same tan along bottom but not in front of wheel. That might help it look better.

I think with it not there, that is my favorite. It makes the truck look a bit newer without losing the 80-86 lines.

In the 3rd one, the tan is too thin. Doesn't look as nice as OG or #2

The more I look at this one the more it grows on me. Not sure about the front part though.

looking at that pic has me thinking about adding some black across the bottom and painting my top black.

the 3rd option is my favorite, looks original but not and so it would take someone to take a closer look and that's cool.

Interested to see what you end up doing.

I actually liked the way yours looked when it had the original brown paint job on it.

This would take my vote... I like it cause it's close to the original but it's just different enough to catch the eye. I especially like the lack of tan up front (in front of the wheel well)... it draws your eye to the front clip. Plus, since the front fender is clipped and sits higher, the bottom stripe (were it there) is offset up and looks funny. My 2¢, from one 80-86er to another!

I like the option #2. It just looks clean to me.
I'm just here for the views. It helps me feel wanted.

Paint below the bottom body line red. Paint the section between the two body lines tan. Optionally paint the top red to match the cab.

I like #3 as well.

What do you think about combining #3 & 4 by painting below the crease and only on the door and rear section? Not over the fender or the front. Just a thought!!
