I have never seen so many shim stuck in one shock. Youd hit a 3” crack and the dash would pop Image. By the way Steve, still having braking issues. I just cant seem to get all the air out. I ordered a positive pressure bleeder to see if that works.

While still battling the brakes after now purchasing a positive pressure bleeder, i went ahead and tried that. I think the abs pump has air in it somehow. Anyway they work better than stock drums so we went down to glen helen and watched some short course racing. 75 mph smooth and quiet even with unbalanced tires and an eye ball alignment. Ill whittle more down but for the first decent drive up and down the pass, we are happy.

Image It lets me remember what i did without 1,000 keyboard warriors letting me know how i did it wrong or how I could’ve done it different. The small amount here will chime in when its important. Some of the old gfb guys are still here. I miss them. Plus you have to admit, 650,000 views somewheres is hilarious no matter how rediculous it is.

Image At least it would be by more than competent people. By the way still fighting the brake pedal. I kept the abs and so i was on the hunt for the tool that plugs into the abs control module. I did go iut to the dirt and got it to 30 mph and slammed on the brakes a few times. It helped but still not perfect.

Congrats on getting it down the road that valve stack was wild

my dad had done a disc break conversion on his Cherokee. We had been battling squishy breaks for ever….. turned out he had installed the calipers backwards…. Left on the right side and right on the left. And that caused a little pocket of air to be trapped in the calipers.

He just used calipers zj calipers. Your breaks are a little more high speed than his. Maybe that’s something to look in too

Thank you. Yeah and the left overs could’ve filled 2 bypasses Image. I have bumper jacks, so i have backed up the bronco and pulled it straight in and lifted both ends trying to maybe move an air pocket. My understanding is, since i kept the abs i need a special tool to cycle the abs pump in order to get the air out of the valves. At 400.00 on eBay, my wife said screw abs. Image

Since we arent going crazy with the changes to the inside i bought a new pad for the driver seat. 249,000 miles makes for a 6’ guy to look like his 11 year old in it. I bought it off ebay broncosandparts. It shipped quick and looks like the original pad. Also got the steering tightened after watching my wife hold on with both hands. Reman box just needed an adjustment. Smogged it yesterday and today AAA for the new steekers. 2020 was the last one. Hopefully its first big drive to work monday.

No action shots but took it around cleghorn with with my wife kids and dogs. The 4wd works good and the suspension worked well. I need to go back over everything but some adjustments and its awesome. Its registered and smogged so now its just the tinkering.

Thank you! It felt like an accomplishment for sure. When you redo your own gears, the first move under power is a bit intimidating. Plus Carly and the kids love it.

It honestly is. She drives it regularly. The kids request to be dropped off and picked up and Bri already wants to learn to drive it. Headed to Lucerne this weekend with my Dad kids and my dads cousin who built a 43 willies crawler with an LS. Hoping to go just do some adventuring.

120 miles in Lucerne and the only hiccup was i forgot to tighten the jam nuts on the drag link. My steering wheel crept slowly to the left until i figured it out Image

Randy, I think I can see your brake problem. Unbolt the rear calipers and turn them on the rotor until they are vertical with the bleeder up. Then, get someone inside to pump while you bleed. Once the air is out, return the caliper to it's bracket and bolt it back on. I'm thinking this will cure your spongy brakes, as air is trapped in the piston bores ABOVE the bleed port. No amount of normal bleeding will remove this air until the bleed port is higher than the trapped air. Brake calipers of that type need to be mounted vertically, not horizontally. Just my $0.02.

Thank you Rod. Ill give it a try. Its really close but there is still air. Much better than before but ill do it to alleviate the possibility.

Brakes are working well! Put 1,000 miles on it, changed the rear diff oil which looked great. I was stupid nervous and figured if there were chunks, it would be down another 2 years. The witness marks on the gears pointed to a good pattern so i plopped the cover back on and filled it full of oil. Also, i had issues with the pinion seal leaking between the housing and the seal. After replacing it and it leaking, I went ahead and replaced the seal and used some rtv at the edge. No mas leak. We did another 80-100 miles this last week in Lucerne. This time my girls were driving their own cars. Carly logged some miles behind the wheel and loved it. Next is a new front and rear bumper, lights and some more bs i ordered. Also setup a new trans cooler that will mount to the skid plate when all is done. Image
