I'd almost be tempted to call someone who details cars & see if they'll look at the carpet only. Guys I've used in the past have been amazing about getting spots out of carpet. I know that whole rear section needs some love for sure, but maybe with it already being out of the truck it would be cheaper to have someone clean it.

Just buy it direct from ACC - a new carpet kit and a new headliner will do wonders fir de-stanking your ride! Btw eBay, Amazon, a random site who ever gives you the best deal via ACC- it’s coming from there.

I might soak it with some APC and hit it with the pressure washer. There's SO MUCH mor padding on the back of the factory carpet vs what aftermarket looks like.

Thankfully my headliner and visors look like they are brand new. They may be the best 23 year old headliner I've ever seen. Spotless, no sagging, holes, tears, or anything.

Just waiting to hear back from Ryan how he likes the carpet kit. As far as i know he hasn't had it out to look at yet.

The carpet from LMC looks like it has jute backing, same as OE, and nobody else does.

The first 2 are the front passenger compartment. Carpet with mass backing and jute. 3rd pic is foil covered jute to place wherever I want, I got 3 sheets of it.

I can’t stress enough to not waste your time cleaning 20+ yo carpet and buying an ACC kit.

My only hangup is i keep reading reviews that aftermarket carpet kits never lay right, and only result in frustrating humps and loose spots.

The interior is fully gutted. I'm planning out my stereo upgrades and running some wiring while it's all apart.

In addition to two antenna cables and the fridge wiring, is there anything else i should run while it's apart that can live under the carpet?

Something weird must have been spilled in the back of my truck at some point. The underside of all the carpet has had a weird schmoo all over it, and it caused some rust on the drivers rear fender. Took a wire wheel to it, some self etching primer, and a surprisingly good color matched can of Duplicolor Pacific green.

Laid down aluminum backed butyl, similar to fatmat, dynamat etc. It stops panel vibrations, but isn't really for sound. The theory is you lay that on 25% of the surface, then cover on closed cell foam to decouple the body from your sound deadener. I am using mass vinyl, about 1/8" thick. This foam is about 1/4" thick, and i'll be using 3/8" foam for the passenger area. Will be filling in to try and get as close to 100% coverage on the cargo area and side panels as possible. This will also be replicated on the outer door skin and inner door skin where i can squeeze it under the door panel.

The front area has some factory NVH damper, so i just added butyl around it. Coverage is probably better than 30% i think.

Coverage on the side panels is identical left and right. No need for it on the cargo floor as the corrugations supposedly do a good job of eliminating panel vibration.

Planning out the closed cell foam coverage.

Starting to lay it down. I'll go to where the floor drops into the rear seat footwell, then switch to the thicker 3/8's foam. I'm planning to eliminate the jute backing on the carpet, so this foam will be both sound insulation and padding.

Only $250 for the WHOLE kit on RockAuto…. might be worth it at that price.

Just plugging along with little stuff. Ran antenna cables up under the trim and secured them down the passenger side b-pillar. Steve gave me the thumbs up to run the coax next to each other, shouldn't be any interference. I don't necessarily plan on having two radios, but it would be nice to have redundancy, and if i want to run two radios i won't have to dig back into it.

Going to run the cables under the carpet, and the radio bodies will me mounted inside the center console. I should have enough room in there for a small 4 channel amp too. I'll run all the cables under the carpet to keep it clean.

This is the console extension that Desolate just released, mounts off of a Tuffy 12" locking console.

Also ordered my Desolate Stage 1.5 on Monday. Whenever the center console is ready for pickup, i'll swing by and grab it all at once. Kind of a rad coincidence that they're only a couple blocks away from me at work. Going to run Bilstien 5165's in the rear, and dual 5100's up front.

I recently did a complete carpet set in my '95. There were mice calling it at home at one point in time. There was absolutely no messing around with that carpet, it was way too disgusting. The ACC carpet kit was mildly intimidating at first, because it is cut oversized. It's actually very easy to install. The floor hump is where you begin. The carpet is formed to fit it. From there, you just have to trim it to fit, which you could just use your existing carpet as a template. I didn't do that, because of the aforementioned feces / urine soaked carpet. It was a little time consuming, and not difficult at all. 10/10 would recommend going this route, you won't regret it after you have a full cabin of fresh carpet.
