What goes here?
There is a part that looks to be missing off the motor on my 95 5.8 bronco. It is a 95 5.8 MAF bronco. Looks like it bolts I front of the egr valve off the throttle body. Also looks like there are 2 hoses cut that go into it and a connector. Possibly a vacuum hose.

Thank you. I wonder how hard they are to find.

Re: What goes here?
The junkyard has them for $0-10 depending on what you've got for pockets and if you're buying a bunch of other stuff you can put it in with. There's practically no reason to buy that part new.

I was having a hard time finding them at the junkyard because it's so year/engine specific.

Re: What goes here?
They all do the same thing. Find one with the right number of hose ports and get the bracket to go with it.Tchajagos wrote:I was having a hard time finding them at the junkyard because it's so year/engine specific.

Been looking more into this. It seems on 95 5.8 California trucks with mass air there is a dpfe that goes there.

Just have to find the correct one as there are connector differences between 95 and 96.

All the trucks use dpfe's, all the ford cars from the era too. Go to the local parts house, get one. Easy. They tend to go bad over the years.
The hoses are tee'd off the egr tube. Make sure the egr tube is also in one piece. They have a flex joint and tend to split.

Ok, another mystery.

Wtf is this thing on my oil filter. Appears to be plastic and eaten away a bit. Nothing was hooked up to it.

Re: What goes here?
It was an oil cooler. Coolant lines connected to the hose barbs. They do a good job bringing oil up to operating temperature quickly and preventing it from being more than a few degrees hotter than the coolant.
A lot of people disconnect them because they think they heat the oil.

Was it a factory option? I don't see any cooler or lines in there.

Re: What goes here?
Yes. Some trucks got them. Some didn't. By 94/5/6 most trucks had them.Tchajagos wrote:Was it a factory option? I don't see any cooler or lines in there.

Thanks. Looks like the lower radiator hose was replaced with the non-cooler type like in this pic.

Wondering if I remove the piece, will the oil filter just screw on like normal?

Re: What goes here?
Yes and you can run a larger filter FL1A or 51515 wix vs the stubby one that goes with that pancake cooler a-dapter.
I omitted that system as I didn't want one of those hoses to take a dump in the middle of nowhere but its actually a nice set up. I kept it on my motorhome since it is a nice feature but on my bronco, I didn't want the variable.

Re: What goes here?
I just used the heater core circuit for the water supply to the oil cooler which gives me a few options for bypassing it if it acts up. Any reason you couldn't do this on a 351?
