It's more like an 'anti-rattle' Will, the tire swing weight is carried by the bumper

Couple of updates:

Ready to roll that floater under the old girl, so another trip to Richer Racing to do the usual stuff like:

install a VSS kit from Hollander Motorsports
swap u joints on the driveshaft for the pinion yolk
cycle the suspension to check pinion angle, tab for the 2 link, account for bumps

decided to step up to hydro bumps in the rear, so dropped some Bilsteins, cans, and some beffy ruff stuff spring plates off w the truck

while the J40s were apart, I decided to give them some spring love:

I wirewheeled each leaf down to clean steel, hit em with a couple coats of graphite, reassembled and gave em a fresh few coats of black,

Some new Poly bushings in the spring ends while it was easy

Had to swap in 5/8" lug studs up front, found a crack in the driver's side slotted rotor. Bye bye Powerslots, welcome back stock rotors.

The stock alcoas didn't have enough center bore to work with the new rear hubs, so before I could get to the machinist, I stumbled across a set of 4 non Ford Alcoas,
forged 15" x 8"; already with 4.25" center bore and the 5/8" lugholes I needed.

These look just like the Ford versions, except the lip is solid and there are no holes for the hub cap inserts. The extra 1/2" improves the stance just a bit....

Ordered some goodies before Sparky gets in and wires the truck next:

A pair of Alpines to match what's in the truck, and an amp to power all 4

and a self powered 250W marine grade Bazooka sub
