Deaver Coils bend inwards?

Hey Guys,

So I just swapped my front suspension over from dual shocks and a rough country coil spring over to camburg buckets, deaver coils, and bilstein 7100's.
The process wasn't hard at all. However, after letting the springs settle and testing the truck, you constantly hear the spring rubbing on a bolt head. It looks like the reason its rubbing is because of how the spring is concaved in as you can see in the picture.

Then, here is a close up of the spring resting/rubbing on the bolt head.

The same issue persists on the other side as well, however after maneurvering the shock around I think I got it to clear the bolt head. But it is still sitting there bent inwards.

How can I go about fixing this? I could possibly find some bolt heads that are not as thick and replace the ones that are rubbing.
Or, I was thinking of maybe drilling a higher hole in my drop bracket to lower the beams ends a tad. I have a 6.5"-7" drop bracket. Do you think this could be done?

The Camburg buckets are made for a C+T beam, not drop brackets. You need to make an angle shim for under the spring or change to C+T beams.

That's what I was assuming philofab. How would I go about an angle shim? Would my theory of drilling a higher hole on my drop bracket possibly correct it?
Eventually I think I am going to move to C&T beams, just a matter of time and money haha.

I would get rid of the lower coil spring pads too and go with a flat plate like this http://www.ballisticfabrication.com/Coi ... _1460.html
You have to trim one of the ears so it sits flat but its minor. I couldnt get mine to align with the Deavers and those spring pads solved the prob.

Oops looks like you run a sway bar so that wont work.

The sway bar is only temporarily. I am in the process of converting to just a go fast truck, as it was my daily driver a while ago.
Since I have added in the deavers and longer shocks, the swaybar limits my travel significantly. I am going to remove it here soon.
So the flat plate will most likely work. Where does that sit exactly? under the spring block or under the spring itself?

Under the spring itself. The plate takes the place of the stock spring plate that connects your sway bar on each side.

I was able to find it, although all I saw was pictures. Do you have more pictures as to what the process you did was?
Surely it is simple - line it up and then figure out which ears need to be trimmed.
Did this lower your height at all or raise it? I already sit lower in the front then I do in the rear but thats because my rear is not built yet.

Coil springs have that feature. Seldom will you find a coil the does not have a bow. They get worse bow with use. Good custom tower design and ground coils allow the coil to be clocked. For the OP issue do what ever is required to clock the coil. Shaving the bolt is a temporary fix. Removing the bolt is good.

Removing the bolt might be a solution. There are 6 grade 8 bolts holding it in, so what's minus one. As I know coil springs will not always sit straight and bow, I do not expect to get a perfect line up. I just don't want to hear the constant clunk over ever bump haha

The process is just as you described, very strait forward. No my ride height did not change due to the Deaver being taller by an inch and a half and a progressive rate coil. My rear is about 3/4" higher than the front when empty.

I think I am going to do those plates. There not very expensive either. Are you running drop brackets or C&T?

Replace the bolt that rubs with a bevel head allen bolt. Just bevel the hole so it sits flush. Most allens are grade 8 so you wont loose any strength.

The 7 truck we used to ace had 2" trailer hitch balls welded to the beams. The lower spring perchs had a dome in them and rode on the balls. Allowed the springs to find there happy place regardless of beam angle.

That is very interesting. I would love to see some pictures of this.
Where can I find those bevel head Allen bolts? That could work too
