Bolt-on locking hubs for custom Bronco hubs .... need help
Since you Ford guru's are here ... Im looking for a bolt-on front locking hub assembly that will match up to the larger 30 spline (stock is 19) outer axle shafts Yukon and others have available for the F-250 stuff to use on some custom bronco hubs.
Any of you have any ideas? I talked to Warn and it didnt seem like they had anything available.
Here's the style im looking for .... these are listed for the 19 spline shafts the '63-77 Ford 3/4 tons use. Is that comparable in diameter to the 30 spline people use in Ford Dana 44 hubs? I would be open to having to make new custom outer axle shafts.

Yukon makes these in 30 spline.

Toyota hubs may work for you. They are 30 spline and attach the way you need. You need to compare the bolt circle, axle diameter, and spline pressure angle.

The Warn guy said the Toyota 30 spline axles were quite a bit smaller in OD, too light duty.

Aren't the rcv axles 30spline outter? I'd call them and see what they recommend.

Are you doing customs knuckles, spindles and hubs or just hubs on the d44 stuff?

Re: Bolt-on locking hubs for custom Bronco hubs .... need help
The problem is that he is using a custom hub that uses bolt on lockouts. The trucks that used these style lockouts aren't upgraded very often and no one seems to make a 30 spline hub. The 30 spline hubs that are made for Dana 44s use a snap ring retention like our trucks use stock.
The factory bolt on style lockout hub he talks about uses a 6x3.750 bolt circle and a 19 spline 1.250 OD shaft.
The aftermarket axle will be 30 spline and 1.312 in diameter which was used in Dana 60s and some other applications.
The Toyota spline is 30 but with a 1.300 shaft diameter.
The only options I see are:
1. Redrill hub to fit different bolt circle lockout. (may not be possible)
2. Redrill lockout to fit hub bolt circle. (seems easy enough)
3. Mix and match hub parts to create a 30 spline bolt on lockout with two sets of Mile Marker or Warn hubs.
4. Machine an adapter to convert the hub pattern (like a wheel spacer)

The hub Scott wants to run is not production. It's probably one of their race hubs that is normally used for 2wd applications.cs_drums wrote:Is it s one off hub or production unit?

So it is a pruduction unit offer from camburg, in the mean that it is already made and not going to be build specifically for his bronco. Why not get the 3/4 ton style in the first post along with the matching outers and have custom inners made. You need custom inners anyway with the extended beams and if you already did that im sure you could sell them to someone with a camburg beams as they are pretty popular.philofab wrote:The hub Scott wants to run is not production. End product would leave you bigger u joints and all off the shelf parts except for the inners that are custom either way.
Would that not work?

Re: Bolt-on locking hubs for custom Bronco hubs .... need help
I'm gonna do something similar to this .... We do these for the 2wd Rangers and F-150's and back in the day they did a custom hub for Jasons Explorer. Really right now Im just working out the details to start designing it. Gonna be a fabricated knuckle using uniballs instead of ball-joints, a 2.5" spindle and either an off the shelf hub we already have or something custom just for this Bronco "kit". All working 4 wheel drive. Not sure if it's something Camburg will sell our myself ... we'll see in time.

If you are making the hubs, use bolt on Dana 60 30 spline lockouts.
http://m.summitracing.com/parts/mmk-11034-01
3.960 x 8 bolt pattern.
Application is Dodge 1 ton truck Dana 60. The only thing that sucks is the center bore will have to be 4.25 or so on the wheel.

Well that part number wont work. The OD of the bolt-on portion it too large. I need something 4.25" or smaller. That thing is like 4.625" OD.
Back to the drawing board lol

Re: Bolt-on locking hubs for custom Bronco hubs .... need help
Even our TT 6 on 6.5 wheels have a 4.25" center bore. Thats pretty much the industry standard. I dont want to go out in left field with what wheel can be used. Just gotta find another model, gonna talk to Milemarker tomorrow, see if they can do one that has a smaller bolt pattern but in that 30 spline x 1.312" OD axle splines.

Talked to RCV and I'm gonna have them make a replacement internal gear to fit the Warn 9072 hub version above with the bigger internal 30 x 1.312" OD splines. Problem solved!
