tThe race didn't go as well as I would of liked. We finished, we got a 1st place SUV trophy, and the crowd favorite award.

At the same time I destroyed the 4th 3rd member that's been in the truck. Gotta figure out why I keep destroying ring and pinnions.

And the engine started running kinda shitty so I gotta solve that mystery as well.

I tell you guys one thing good about racing your prerunner you will sure find out what needs to be upgraded real quick to build a reliable rig.

The broken Axel was a stock 31 spline Axel. I'm very surprised how long it lasted. Broke it the following weekend in barstow..

Congrats on the win, my condolences on the mechanical problems. Time to run a full floater Dana 60 or a Corporate 14 unless you can afford a $6000+ full floater 9in with 300m 40 spline axles.

Need full floater. Also inturupted load is a big factor. Basically how fast your rear tires are spinning when you land. Either too fast or too slow both cause tortion load in the axels shafts and if there not large enough or can't hang with the twist they shear. I would also double check your housing to make sure it's not bent. A bar should be able to pass all the way through. What I would do is turn 2 plug rings to fit inside the axel tubes at the 3 rd member ends. Remove the 3rd, install the 2 rings and then pass an unbent bar through. This would verify its true in the center as well as end to end. A 40 spline floater should be enough for you I'd think, call speedway engineering there the axels camburg was selling and calling there own for a while. Hope it helps.

Here's my quality question. Why did you not go with a GM drivers side drop transfer case? Seems like it would of been extremely cheaper to go with a 4401 fixed yoke tcase over the adapter and what not for the 1356?

During my "research" I didn't find any manual transfer cases that were fixed yoke from the factory.
The 1356 is a very good t case for my application, and proving so thus far. Time will tell.
Haha why didn't you tell me about this t case is a better question.

So thinking about it there are a few things that are cool about the 1356. I am not bias either way.
1. The factory speedo hooks up to 1356 and runs my cluster.
2. Its aluminum.
3. Its aluminum.
4. The output side has big bearings that according to Culhane is a very strong part.
5. I didn't have to change the drive line ends or chase parts for that particular job.
6. I already owned 2) 1356 t cases.
7. Manual shift on the fly is pretty neat.

I didn't know this tcase was a better option. I'd never heard of it until I did some drewoogleing.

I'm still sitting over here trying to build my truck let alone look at motor swaps.

When I ever get close to doing my 6.0 swap i will definitely look into it much more due to parts prices.

Um drewbee you are talking about a 6.0 chevy swap in your bronco. What's the difference? I get shit from ford guys every time I take mine out.

Mike - he's saying he wouldn't get to piss guys like that off if he built the chevy. Like me, it sounds like he would enjoy that aspect of it.

Ya I understand. I've put a lot of thought into it..Lol if I were to do it all over again I would put a ttb front end on a Tahoe and and a cantilever linked rear and be done with it.

There was a video posted in the Whatever thread with a bad ass expedition. It has had gears turning in my head toward that direction. 5.4 is no slouch and edelbrock has the smog legal supercharger that rings it out to almost 438 hp and 504 ftlb if i remember correctly. Not sure if TTb would happen just cause I think the ready available F150 kits would work.

If I didn't have this thing where I somehow NEED my next build to be a 70's truck I would be looking much closer at the Yukon idea or an Exploder. I dig the TTB yukon thing. 4 seats & 4wd / TTB is just so cool. Somehow it being 70's with all that makes it even cooler in my mind.
