96 chase bronco
Re: 96 chase bronco
ok so i think the rearend is bent. it currently has yukon 456 gears and a detroit trutrac in it i think. i was thinking about just pulling the rearend and sending it to currie to have them widen it and put the 1541 flanges on the end to eliminate the c-clip. id also be upgrading to 1/4 axle tubes and explorer disc brakes.
do you think its worth it to just spend alittle money on a 8.8 rather than 3-4k on a nice 9''? i dont ever plan to link this thing as i have a nice linked ranger now. this will be for family fun trips and mild prerunning.
currie wants 1500$ for all that and i was curious if you all thought it was worth it

I think the 8.8 is a great unit.... $1500 is alot less than you would spend on a 9" Once you start looking at 3rd members, etc etc etc

Re: 96 chase bronco
Dump the 8.8 & replace with a corporate 14. Buy the 5x5.5 lug pattern hubs, whatever gear ratio you want and a locker and sell the 8.8 to offset the cost.
Corp 14's have 35 spline axles, are strong as hell and dirt cheap. The slight downside is unsprung weight.
You can buy and build a complete corp 14 for under $1500. Under $1k if you shop around a bit...

Chris, if you decide to go 9" I'd be interested in those gears and locker.

Re: 96 chase bronco
into the shop she goes. had a overheating issue this past weekend in lecurne. hope i didnt loose a head gasket. it got hot when the wire for the electric fan broke and now everytime i drive it i can only put a couple miles on it before it gets hot again.
as for the rest im putting a cage in it, 3.0 bypasses in the rear, rear bench seat, harnesses, 7" gps, 4 place intercom, winters shifter, new front and rear glass and some other odds and ends that i think of.
should be fun once its done.

Re: 96 chase bronco
Sweet! If I were you go with Currie. I've done alot of research and talked to some good people filled with knowledge and they told me that the currie setup is perfect for a prerunner application. Remember if you want a rear truss, although not the crasiest, you can have them built to be able to unbolt the rear panel, but with .25 axle tubes you shouldn't need it.
I'm just here for the views. It helps me feel wanted.

Did you ever figure out the motor issue? Was the head gasket bad?

Looks good. I like the "don't rush it but don't let it take too long" mentality words I try and live by hahaha.
Keep it up.

Re: 96 chase bronco
NICE!!!! I'm picking up some of those from the team I pit for. They are last years ProTruck wheels. I have heard they have odd offset...have you test fit them?

Re: 96 chase bronco
