Dusty Bronco

I got bit by the bug again and picked up a 92 from our friend and parts hustler Brandon (hollandermotorsports). It was the cleanest Bronco I could find in months of searching, so I pulled the trigger.

I'm pretty stoked to be a Bronco owner again. The plan is to keep it simple for now and build her up slowly. I've already got more into parts, wheels, tires, and suspension that the truck is worth, so sounds like I'm right on track!!

The kids named it "Dusty". Brandon said it had been sitting awhile and had collected it's share of dust. When the kids crawled in they said it was "dustier than your last Bronco"! So the name stuck.

Putting it all together. Cleaned up the frame rails and got everything painted up.







That about catches you up. Getting the beams hung and coils/shocks on this week. New rotors and pads coming. All new balljoints are in and new manual hubs as well. I gotta get off my phone now, and get work done!

Yes it's looking very nice. I can't wait to have Solo rehab the front end of Jim & Paige's Bronco.

I pressed in new Energy bushings in the beam pivots, driver side went together super smooth but looks like it separated when installed


Any thoughts? Is this a concern?

Between work and the holidays, it's been hard to get out and work on the Bronco. Front end is almost done. Yesterday I got the knuckles on (no pics yet) and all the brake goodies from Napa.


Picked up an Explorer 8.8 with disc's to use on the 8.8 I got from birdco.


Ordering 4.56's for it. I realize Yukon is a great brand, but they are almost double the price. Anyone ever use Ford Racing gear sets? Remember, this is a family rig for mild putzing around Superstition. I won't be racing the Mil for awhile?!! lol I figure anything is better than the tired stock gearing it has now.

Getting close to rolling again. I got the brakes and new hubs all put together. The extended brake lines gave me some trouble. The passenger side specifically. The retainer clip that hold the fitting through the shock tower won't clip because either the fitting is too short, or the wall of the tower is too thick. Either way, it ain't clipping on there!

I got all excited and threw the tires on just to see how she sits now. Got some camber to work out, but I'm loving the stance. Once the shocks go on and steering is finished, we're driving again.

What springs did you put in? 4" or deaver 5.5"?

Don't forget the springs will settle a bit after a little bit of hard driving.

4" Pro Comps. I realize they will settle, I'm just hoping to bring it a lil closer to true.

Once you drive forward they will settle, just A couple feet.

What did you do about the 5x5.5 bolt pattern with the Explorer discs? Re-drill the rotors? I have sort of the opposite setup as you, a Bronco 8.8 in my Explorer. I had the axles re-drilled to 5x4.5 to work with my stock disc brakes, but down the road I'll be going up to 5x5.5, so I was thinking either switch the wheel studs back into the original location on the axles and re-drill the rotors, or keep the 5x4.5 and just use adapters.

I'm ordering the rotors from Currie. They have the 11" Exploder disc's predrilled for 5x5.5. Cross drilled even, if your feeling extra fancy!

Out of the garage! Brakes gave me some interference but nothing I can't sort out.
Next phase is rear end build. I'm gonna put 4.56's in the 8.8 I got from Darren. Explorer disc's from Currie. Saving my penny's for Deaver Q80's and shackle kit from Solo (of course). Might be a minute or two seeing as how the turbo Subie in my sand car grenaded this weekend. Might have to throw all my Bronco money at a new EJ25. Turbo'd and Intercooled of course. Anyone wanna buy a 4 seater sand car?!!
