Been looking for cheap onboard air ideas and I came across this one on FSB.

I really like this idea of using the ac compressor to provide onboard air. This guy is a little rough in his fabrication but I think i'd be able to clean it up some. ie: Use a proper tank, with pressure switch wired to a relay with a control switch in the cab to the clutch, pre-oiler and Coalescing Filter using proper mounts on structural areas. I would also find a better way to fit hoses on the high and low pressure side. (no JB weld) that's just a few of the things that stood out to me just so it can be go-fast proof.
is anyone running their ac compressor as an onboard air? or anyone have ideas on what would make it work/better?
im running a '91 if that makes any difference.

I really like my AC compressor for my AC.
I'm too much of a sissy to wheel in the heat without it!!!

Re: AC Compresor/Onboard Air conversion
no ideas?
well i looked some more and found a guy putting a york 210 on his dodge. i origionally shied away from this becuase of re-man cost from retailers, but i found out that these compressors were used on old volvo's. i should be able to go spend a few hours at the junk yard and find one, hopefully still in good working order. I'm thinking a york would be easier plumbing wise, and the only fab needed would be a mounting plate. i'll go this route if i can find the parts.

Re: AC Compresor/Onboard Air conversion
I heard that these were good for air compressors, but never tried it. I had one in an eighties F250. The idea sounds good. I would like to know how it works out.
The whole JB welding the 3/8 hoses was strange when the correct size fittings are available at Lowes.
