Ok, here's the weather forecast for the trip... it's much better than they were forecasting last week... they forecast 109°F both days... this will be much nicer!

Can't wait! This is going to be awesome!

That looks like an optimistic Tecate forecast. Haha! I'm thinking another 15 degrees.

OK. I'm getting restless here. Cleaned the Bronco! Didn't have anything else big to fix. Haha! What am I supposed to do? It's so bad that I made the tires black again. Need to go before this gets worse. Intervention inevitable.

Hey guys I'm a bit overloaded with stuff for the orphanage. Not weight wise, just bulk. If somebody has even a little extra room it would much appreciated if I could share my load. If I could get rid of one or two Glad type trash bags that are about 3/4 full it would really help me out.

Can't wait to hit the trail! See you all Friday.

I'll probably need some help too!!

Just a reminder guys.....If you want to use your phone in Mexico you have to call your cell provider and request it. Also, if you have a smart phone, turn off your data or you will get a big bill (again ask provider if you don't know how).

I'm packed and ready. Matt is picking me up about noon tomorrow so we'll be seeing you guys at HP ranch tomorrow evening. We're leaving late enough that we'd never catch you guys on the Tecate run so we're gonna enjoy the cruise down the coast and get some tacos. Have a good 1st day run!

Nah haven't redone it yet. But remember how my rear personalized plate was stolen and I got it replaced? While the DMV even though they reissued it, it still comes up as stolen but replaced. So the motorcycle cop called for back up and four other Orange County Sheriffs showed up thinking my Bronco was stolen. Sure enough the guy ran the vin and figured out it was not a stolen vehicle and was cool about it afterwards. Mexican guy in a possible stolen Bronco in Laguna Hills, hmmmm. LMAO. Good times. Oh well, I'm not going to sweat it. I'll be in Baja tomorrow and life is good.

That's awesome Chris! hahaha

Try being a kid in a 5 colored, beat up, prerunner style truck in a rich neighborhood in Newport Beach. My brother used to get pulled over weekly (not exaggerating) in his toyota. There were some funny questions asked often. My favorite was always "and what exactly are you doing around here" which he got to answer with "going home..."

Classic answer Steve, I would love to see the face on the cop after your brother responded like that.

At least I'm not the only one who gets hassled by cops.

I am leaving asap. Gotta find a place to crash tonight still. I have a few bags of stuff for the orphanage, also a bolt on 3rd for the ozzy, and my race radio.

Anyone need me to bring spares?

The best is we were stopped one night on the way to go play pool with my friends. I was 21 and he wasn't (he was 17) so he was driving since I was going to have a beer or 2 while we played.

We get pulled over as usual doing nothing wrong. It's the typical "we're just stopping to check you out since your truck is odd for around here" BS. Cop asks where were going, where we live, etc. Takes both licenses and then proceeds to ask my brother in that stearn, oh so annoying "I'm a cop" tone "he's a bit older than you, what are you doing hanging out with him???"
My brother comes back with, uh, he's my brother?!?!?"
I guess he only looked at the age on the licenses - not the address or anything else since we lived together and our adresses were the same.

Next best story was when the cop asked if his truck was stolen because the plastic surround on the steering column was gone. Keep in mind this is in a GUTTED cab with aluminum door panels, race seats, no carpet and 1/2 the dash missing. Cop said that when those are missing shrouds are missing it often means a stolen truck. My brother asked how he could see the shroud missing but not the keys hanging out of the ignition right there... Explained that the plastic was old and brittle and cracked so he tossed it.

Freaking TARD cops here I swear.
