Re: Dusty Bronco
No, my wife was able to get her skinny fingers in between the tank and frame to get the threads started. She was a trooper and helped get em all snugged up. She saved me a lot of time and trouble. A pretty woman who will help me wrench on a Bronco? I think I'll keep her around awhile!Tchajagos wrote:Did you end up dropping the tank?

Back on all four! I'm so stoked how this thing has turned out in the past few months. Time to go get it dirty!

We all do.
For some sadistic reason I've started keeping the ones I remove in a jar in the shop. Wish I had started with the ranger, and stuff in between, but started half way through the crew & I've got a ton in there. Those bastards bring the suck for sure!

Got Dusty aligned today. Driving it around town it was squirrely as hell. Steering is shot out, blown out. Ambulance upgrade ordered. I read through every steering tech thread on this site, and hope I didn't miss anything. The crossover steering will come soon, I gotta let the bank account heal for awhile.

Did they adjust the caster and camber? Or just the tow. If you have the alignment cams you can get a little bit of caster out of them to help center the wheel when driving. Essentially you want the top balljoint to be farther to the rear of the truck than the bottom balljoint.

Maiden voyage was a success....kind of. We went to Superstition Mtn and made a 4 day weekend out of it. The new suspension was amazing and handled great. I was super impressed with it all.
Then, the Bronco started loosing power, falling on its face, and dying. After searching every cause we could think of, I ended up cutting the bed out and pulling the fuel pump. The inside of the tank looks like the side of an old fishing vessel. I swear I saw a sea urchin growing in there! Good news is, I know why it was running like crap. New tank and pump will get ordered this week.

Re: Dusty Bronco
Yes, with surgical precision. I was scared to hit a fuel line, but they sit an inch or so below the bed, so I barely dropped the cutting wheel through. Worked out perfectly. Just need to go to the junkyard and get a patch panel.tcm glx wrote:Did you cut the floor with the tank in place? Truck looks great!
