Robby finished Stage 3 in 3rd place 7min2sec behind leader. Looks like they fixed the vapor lock issues. Hoping Robby Finally gets a stage win now that the Gordini HST issues appear to be solved.

The Baja 1000 is the same way, you wonder the entire time where and how those people got out there. And then you see the cars they came in, and then you REALLY wonder! Give them an old Jeep Cherokee with bald tires and they can aboslutely put it anywhere. The other thing about the Dakar is that the route is supposed to be secret, but the spectators still find it. Once the helicopters start buzzing over certain areas I am sure it becomes obvious.

You would never get the big trucks through the first mile of the 1000! They won't fit under the bridges in the wash. You could go around but we even smash the light bar and roof of the Bronco with trees and cactus. Pre-run with a chain saw..........? Agreed, those trucks are just awesome.

They are Mexican. They grew up driving dirt roads & silt in a 1982 Camry with bald tires. They can get any vehicle anywhere pretty much. No matter how rough the terrain or how small the tires on the car!

As for the big trucks at Baja - it was a complete joke. Although I would love to see one try it one day. The bridges are just the start of stuff those things would have to find a completely new way to deal with.

I'd just LOVE to see one of those peeling through the streets of Ensenada, or by the fish camp at Erindera.

I sure do.... if memory serves me right, it was 93 or 94, and it was the Baja 1K that started in mexicali! Awesome for sure.
