My bro-n-law just picked up a G40 and G37 for him and my sister. They're soooooooo cute.

Correction....it was a G26 and G27...the little compact 2 finger pistols. 9mm and .40 cal

Haha, for sure. Many a bad guy (good ones, too) have thought the same thing.... awww, cute!

I think I already posted this but I shot a friends 10mm compact Glock a couple weeks ago. That gun is anything but cute. Angry, ugly, pissed off... and damn fun to shoot!

Roger. Good guns. I was super close to switching to ditching the M&P and going to a Glock platform because I couldn't get magazines for my M&P's... magazines are available again. All is well in the world.

Have you looked into Ares Armor? They sell 80% kits for 1911s then you can build your own.

Nick - I like 1911's. Their not as comfortable as some, but I like a little uncomfortable and heavy. Feels like a weapon and maintains my respect of it. Personally I feel less likely to make a mistake with a gun that forces my attention. No, I don't want a Desert Eagle. Haha!

Back to the question, but let's say a standard .45 1911 to calm the purist. Best value? Kahr maybe? Would love a Kimber, or Springfield, but hoping for a nice piece for well under a grand.

I got a kimber custom II and I love it. You can get it for under a grand. If I was going 1911 I would go kimber and full size .45. Super accurate. Just buy the 8rd clips for it and its not bad. I love mine.

we nees to go out and you can put some downrange thru my Springfield. Ive done a little work to it but im still well under $1k
