Sending you a PM on that... curious about it.

After carefull thought into all of the build, decided to go with a Currie Extreme Duty housing for the bigger axle tube and thickness. Placed order for it this week. Will be standard width. Unfortunately the axles I recieved from Yukon are standard replacement axles for a stock 9" Bronco Housing which have a backspacing intended for drum brakes. My options are now limited tostock drum brakes, going to a custom setup with likely no parking brake or the Wilwood setup with internal parking brake. Weighing those options out now while the housing is built!
Seconded. I run the GM Metric calipers on my early Bronco 9". You just need to weld on the mounts.only1mikey wrote:Run what I ran on my old race truck, weld-on ruffstuff brake caliper mounts, 1 ton chevy calipers, and dodge dakota 4x4 front rotors. Also, use a line lock for an "emergency" brake. Should be good for "emergencies"

I remember riding with my uncle in his '90 Bronco and we were on the highway going 70 mph, traffic started slowing down so we tried to slow down too and then one of the front brake hoses just bursts, rendering us with only an emergency brake (literally) to slow down. Luckily it held up just fine to get us off the highway and even all the way home with just the emergency brake for stopping.philofab wrote:The idea of an emergency brake is that you can still stop the vehicle if you loose all braking pressure or have a mechanical failure of the pedal itself. The e-brake should be entirely separate.
So what your saying is you need a .125 shim between the axle and the disk. That is pretty easy to do...........tcm glx wrote:They are 32" in legnth and require a 2.36" offset. The explorer disc brake kits require a 2.5" offset.
