Front/Rear Weight Bias
Im working on the layout of my 78-79 Bronco baja racer. What is a good front/rear wieght bias, 60front/40 rear. or vise versa. Ive only been working on circle track dirt cars for the last few years and thats a whole different ball of wax. I like to think most racers scale their rigs on each corner. Just curious. Thanks Guys.

Re: Front/Rear Weight Bias
Our 78-79 started out at about 60/40 front to rear when it rolled in off the street. It is very close to 50/50 now and that seems to work pretty well. Radiator and coolers are still in the front.

Re: Front/Rear Weight Bias
Thanks, Im trying to keep my self from moving stuff to the back of the truck, but I need to remember how much fuel and spare parts I plan on packing in this thing. Do you guys run one or two fuel cells, I currently have a 30gal, but not sure if thats going to be enough. Short side story about me and bias, we build a dirt circle track open wheel modified, our driver was a sprint car driver, so we set up the cockpit like a sprint car, width of a sprint car, and just 3/8" longer wheel base than minimum. Our engine was the smallest on the track, but our driver could pitch that little car sideways on the out side, clean house all the way through the corners. The car was so small, it was hard to get it to scale right, we had a 20gal water tank with pump and spray bar behind the front bumper to help keep the mud off the radiator, 8 26gal fuel cell, (enough for all day) and a 8D tractor battery in the back, it was a fun project, and every time it shows up it takes everyones money. Thanks 300

Re: Front/Rear Weight Bias
We have a single 32 gal tank, but it needs to be 40 to work with the BFG pits. We occasionally use a second 12 gal aux cell. The weight change is mainly due to removal of stuff from the front and adding things in the back. 2 batteries and 2 spares make a big difference. It is suprising that it is hard to tell when the tank is full and when it is empty, you would think it would make more difference. I did circle track stuff for 10 years locally on a pavement track and a couple of times on a dirt track with numerous enduro cars, a couple of street stocks and then ended up with a modified. Its a different kind of racing but racing is fun!
