Randy's 93
Re: Randy's 93
I decided to pull apart the manual transfercase i picked up and go through it before installing. I found that the pump arm started to grove out the case so i modified the arm to prevent further damage. Other than that everything checked out ok. Heres a few pics!

Re: Randy's 93
Hey Randy! Thanks for the awesome deal on your old case. I tore it apart and it seemed to be fine. I put it all back together and bolted it up and it works much better than my old case. I still have to wire it up to be able to use the SOTF 4WD but that shouldn't be too hard.
I heard a weird noise that may be coming from my transmission but It could just be one of the 4 loose bolts that at some point held the factory T-case skid plate. It never had it when I bought my truck. Also found out that the manual shifter only bolted up to my C6 using the big bolt on the linkage and also that my transmission was missing its bolts that hold it to the trans mount. I seem to do a great job at working those loose because my '79 is also missing those.

No worries Augi, glad to meet another bronco buddy! Was fun bsing about off roading in the garage...Its a weekly ritual at my house haha. Let me know if you need the manual shifter back, im going to use the other one i got from Brian but need to find a pressed pin that the linkage rides on. Anybody have extra pin laying around or have an idea to modify it?Agui-E7TE wrote:Hey Randy! Thanks for the awesome deal on your old case. I tore it apart and it seemed to be fine. Re: Randy's 93
I'll let you know about the shifter since I'll be rebuilding my manual case. I was watching some videos on youtube of 1356 rebuilds and realized that the T-case selector shaft (that's what I'm going to call it) that the motor hooks up to.. it is supposed to have a small pin sticking out on the end (the side that is inside the T-case) that locates it so it's centered on the front half of the case. It looked like it broke off but I didn't think much of it until I put everything back together and saw the youtube video. It won't hurt it but I'm guessing that's what gave you problems... either that or the motor since the shaft can only go to three positions 2hi – 4hi – 4lo. It goes in that order so if it engages low, it can only engage it in 4WD unless the 4WD fork slipped off the selector shaft's groove.
Anyways, your Bronco is looking really bad ass now with those lights. I have to admit it.. seeing your bronco has me really considering going to coilovers on my Bronco once I get some cut and turned beams unless I save up and go to 4.5 inch wide beams.. I'd sell my jeep in a heartbeat to do that!

Re: Randy's 93
Forgot to mention, What about using a stud long enough where you could secure it to the bracket using two nuts (one on each side) and then you could slide your linkage onto the stud and put a nut on the remaining threaded end. You could then thread a third nut onto the stud and weld it on to keep it from coming apart. Then if you ever need to remove it all you have to do is loosen the outer nut to get it off the bracket and then loosen the inner nut.... actually I'm going about this all wrong.
You only need one bolt about an 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches long as well as two nuts to secure it to the bracket.
It could go in this order: Nut|Bracket|Nut|linkage|Bolt
Not sure if that makes any sense but it seems like it would be an easy solution.

Makes sense agui infact that's what I was planning on doing until I looked a bit deeper. The issue with that is that the bolt head will hit the mounting plate when shifting to 4 low , there is only about 3/16 clearance. Wish I had a lathe.... That should be the next tool on my list!

Re: Randy's 93
Grind down the head of the bolt and call it good. If not, Lowes has a really nice section of small miscleaneus (I think that's wrong) automotive parts. They have the door panel clips that always break so I'm thinking they may have the press-in stud you need.
Re: Randy's 93
Im just starting the prep for the Raptor spray in liner. This kit had pretty decent reviews and figured id give it a shot...Not bad though $120 shipped with the spray gun! Ill post some pics in a few days of the finished product.

Re: Randy's 93
I had a paint guy tell me that this stuff is really good. Can't wait to see how it turn out.
Re: Randy's 93
All in all i must say im pretty happy with this stuff. My only complaint is with the cheap spray gun, after spraying for a bit the material builds up in the nozzle and will drip. Im hoping this stuff is pretty durable...only time will tell. I will have some pics up this weekend!

And finally some pics of the cage!

Re: Randy's 93
Randy, looking great man!!! Super nice. Any pics of the rear cargo area setup, looks like you built a spot for everything. Curious to see what you did for the tire to stay in place, etc etc
Re: Randy's 93
Thanks Tony! Ill snap a few shots of the cargo area tomorrow when i have some more light. The spare tire mount is just a y strap with 3 eyelet bolts welded to the cage. We designed the cargo area to hold 2 spares but only have 1 at the moment. Figuerd it would work out nice for chasing so i can carry a spare for me and for the race car.
