OK. The fuel issue reared it's head again today. Somehow the bouncing around seems to cause a problem. Think I'm going to just replace the MAF sensor.

On a more positive note. The front end is working well! Added 3/4 turn compression to the first stage and removed a 1/4 from the 3rd with the objective of slowing the suspension down from full droop to get the front end up. Then opened the upper rebound another 1/2 to drop it out quicker on the bid hits and get the tires back into the holes. It worked! Still want to fine tune a bit more, but need to get the rear shocks dialed a bit more first. The current adjustments, strangely enough, ended up in even positions:

Compression Stage (5 turns closed):
1) 2 turns
2) 2.5 turns
3) 3.0 turns
4) 4.5 turns (used as bump stop and it seems to be working)

Rebound Stage (5 turns closed):
1) Zero turns (Still rebounds a bit slow)
2) 2.0 turns (Seems close)

This set-up worked really well at 60-65mph down Bessemer mine road. The back end seems to be skipping across the top at times as if it's got too much rebound, but I'm not sure where to go from here. The compression still seems a bit light. I think going from .020's to .015's might be too big of a step. The rebound bypass adjuster is 3 turns from closed, but the back end gets sloppy if it's opened up. Should I look at different shim diameters? Does King make .017's/.018's?

Brian I love your Bronco, it is very nice. I only hope that mine will be as clean as yours someday. Like everything they are a work in progress.

Thanks man! Much appreciated. Keep at it! You're doing a great job. There have been times I've just wanted to call it quits, but once it's in the dirt all the long hours in the garage are forgotten and I want more! Crazy addiction, isn't it?

Yes it most certainly is (crazy addiction) that is. Been hooked ever since a buddy's brother of mine took me for a ride in his class 5. We were only in middle school at the time, but that's all it took. I just got mine put back together this weekend. I put some C/O's on up front and what a difference they make, the truck is so much smoother now. I need to go out and set them up, but just going down the dirt road by my house I noticed how much better they work.

Went for a quick camping trip this weekend. Drove the Bronco hard. Foot buried in it most of the way, but got a solid 4.5mpg. Woohoooo! The good news is, I think I found the fuel delivery problem. Kept thinking it must be a bad wire or something and sure enough! There was a wire in the injector harness that had been rubbing against the edge of the factory mounting bracket. It was bare and appeared to have shorted. I moved it and so far the engine is running smooth. Time will tell! Fingers crossed.

how'd the bronco do towing the trailer? i have never towed a big trailer with mine,onl;y other broncos on trailers and it was kinda scary...

Broncos are trailer towing machines! I'm going to build a lowered Diesel one as a tow rig / econo mobile.

Haha! Believe it or not, that's Lake Hemet. It was the first time we've been there and it wasn't too bad. We'll probably go again.

The Bronco has always towed the trailer just fine. Wish it had a bit more power, but otherwise no problem. The right hitch is the secret. Although I have to admit, the more I get the suspension dialed, the less it likes tight curves with a 5k load in tow.

I could not be more jazzed right now! Just went for a ride and wow! The Bronco hasn't run so smooth in quite a while. This problem must have been getting worse for quite some time and I didn't realize it. It's a turd, but that's ok. At 165k it's still strong.

Glad to hear you finally figured out the problem Brian - that must make you feel good. I know I LOVE it when I FINALLY figure out odd crap like that.

Hemet lake looks nice for sure! Never been there and never thought I'd say Hemet and nice in the same sentence but maybe I'll check it out sometime!

As for Philo getting out more - he seems to travel auite a bit. You guys just need to remember his typical point of reference is Laughlin adjacent!
