Takes a little work, but yeah it does. I can explain. I'm going to reply to your parts list PM here in a minute. I'll include my phone number. Call me on the '79 grill thing and i can explain.

*edit* here's another link besides the 2 I just PMed you. This one goes backwards (removing '79 for an earlier style) but you get the idea.

Sweet! Got a driver door, passenger fender, headlights, and misc goodies from Steve this weekend. Still working on getting her home. AAA still seems like the best option. I'll have to check my plan and see if that will work.

AAA is what I often use on these.

Let me kow if you need any more parts - I've still got WAY too much sitting in the shop - including that autofab drop center hood - haha

I used AAA when I got my last truck. No one said anything. The tow truck driver knew what I was doing and did not care, the operator never asked about it.

As did I. The guy tried to give me grief as "it wasn't a complete truck and therefore a project and not covered" but I told him it was currently registered & insured (it was at the time - on no op now) and it was covered. I told him if the front clip being off worried him then to have a seat for 20 minutes to a half an hour and I'd have the front back on for him so he could take it... He obliged at that point - which is when I hit him up about using the stinger on the back to grab the alfa since it wasn't running at the time and it was going to the same place. A $20 tip for 2 minutes "extra" work - of course he took it!

Haha, and I still need WAY too many more parts! I'll hit you up once the '77 budget loosens up a bit.

Thanks for the info guys on AAA. I will have to make it as "complete" looking as possible!

I was able to make it up to the '77 today and get some work done. The more I tear into this truck, the larger scale of a project Im finding it to be......but isnt that the way it always goes? Im really stoked on the overall shape of the truck and for the price, I cant go wrong. Pics.....

I got the door on that Steve hooked me up with....only to find out the passenger door has been skinned as well.
Image

Small bit of cancer here, but not bad really. Only a little on the rear bed too.
Image

Bed is a lil rough, but solid and straight. After a shot of Rhino Liner it'll be good to go!
Image
Image

Steelies that came out from under it. Great shape and shined right up with a wash, steel wool, and Blue Magic!!
Image

Took this fender off shortly after the pic was taken. Waiting to put the new one on until the front bumper is straightend out or taken off.
Image

Beat grill and bumper. Both need replacing. Probably gonna swap a '79 grill in as a replacement and do tube bumpers.
Image

Interior is pretty gutted. However, floors are PERFECT. Not a single rusty spot on 'em. Dash is mostly complete less gauges.
Image

Front suspension and long tube headers.
Image

Anyone ever seen header flanges like this? I dont know anything about them other than the PO's PO says their the shizz.
Image

And lastly the 400M. She runs and is tired and in need of some love, but I'll get 'er there.
Image

Thats all for now. Once I get the 33s mounted on some cleaned up wheels, she's coming home. Then the real work and tear down will begin!!

The power of steel wool! Its hard to believe that these wheels have been living under the axles of the truck for years.

Before and after.....

I like to hit my local watering hole and get good and smashed and dial up AAA and use my tows to have not only my truck towed home but me at the same time. I call that a win win and a big thanks to AAA! Okay just kidding but I have always wanted to try that.

Dude my friend does that all the time. One time they asked if he can open the hood and see what was wrong with it, but then saw that he was super drunk and so he just took him and his truck home.

Keep up the good work cwrisley. These truck are fun once you get them going, almost funner then my bronco. I used Uhaul to bring my 79 home from Hisperia to LA. Just another option. Probably way better to use AAA but I didn't have it at the time.

Those U-Haul trailers SUCK. That standard cab, short bed looks like the max that would fit on there - until you see this...

haha damn man I thought I was cutting it close with the trailer's limit. I rented saying I was going to tow an LTD lol. I agree they suck but with no other cheap opinion, it worked out good.

You have no clue...

Here's just one of my ads. I have 3 or more on CL and then a few on a couple different 73-79 type forums, etc.
