Re: The Chief's Clever 96 Bronco
Tried the grindingbthem flat and whacking with a chisel and my 2.5lb brass hammer. Can't get enough momentum. But, I'm on the last 2 rivets now with drilling and then I'll be able to mount the passender side pivot. I can tell you if both sides were attached via rivets I'd just be going C&T.

Re: The Chief's Clever 96 Bronco
Hey guys,
Ive reached the point where I am now torque on the beam drop pivots. I found an install manual on FSB which listed the standard torque specs at 60ft.lbs for 7/16 bolts and 90ft.lbs for the 1/2" bolts that are used. Do these sound correct to you?
I am using blue threadlock on bolts without nylock nuts.

Re: The Chief's Clever 96 Bronco
Google a torque spec sheet for grade 8 bolts. Go to images & have a look. You should find multiple references for dry & "wet" (loctite) torque specs. A few years back I did this & then printed & laminated the charts back to back so one side is dry spec & one side is wet spec. I have this in my toolbox somewhere, but as I write this my mind is thinking "hmmm, I haven't seen that in a while, where is it...?" I'll have to go check that out.

Looked up the specs. For Grade 8:
1/2-20 plated is 90 ft.lbs
7/16-14 plated is 52 ft.lbs
1/2-20 plated is 90 ft.lbs
7/16-14 plated is 52 ft.lbs

The chart is something like this (found on google a second ago), and of course I looked for mine a bit after typing that response & it's not in any of the tool boxes. Maybe it's in the crew. That's what I get for not using my tools enough recently!

Re: The Chief's Clever Bronco
Was able to get a little bit accomplished today. Took my time reassembling the passenger side, since this was my first attempt. Wish I had made more progress today but I kept having to make runs to Autozone for little things.

Re: The Chief's Clever Bronco
Thanks Brian! I wish I had washed and painted the springs and radius arms like I did the beams pivots. I will probably pull the springs and paint them and the radius arms when I install the fenders.
I received one heck of a deal on the entire set of shocks!! Even after working a 16 hour day it was difficult to sleep because of the excitement. I did need to find nuts for the in front of the coil pair originally and then I lost the one on the behind the coil shock. After a failed trip to Home Depot trying to find the correct replacement I purchased a complete set from Autozone. They were an oddball size, M12x1.50. Luckily there are a bunch of vehicles out there with that same size wheel stud. So that's what I used on the top along with some thread lock. They actually made cinchin things up a little easier.

Re: The Chief's Clever Bronco
Ha!!! I figured you'd say that, Tony. I think I am going to use a pressure washer on the springs and radius arms then I'll pull them out and paint them when I put on Princess's skinned fenders.
I originally did all the prep work on the crossmember since I would be drilling fresh holes and wanted to prevent corrosion. I didn't think it would turn out as nice as it did. So now I am really kicking myself for not doing the same to the springs and radius arms. But, if I am lucky that won't really matter because she'll be dirty from the Hammers!!!
