Looking for a NorCal/Reno fabricator
Hello, I’m looking for a reputable shop in the NorCal/Reno area to build me a swing steering setup and front bumper for my 96. I’m located in Susanville. Any input helps! Thanks!

Would love to know the same. I am in Reno and haven't found anyone yet. I did have Folbeck do a driveshaft for me and they did good work with that, but I would love a Ford/TTB specialist.

Any of the major socal shops will ship.

No doubt. I am from So Cal so I'm a big fan of Solo and Desolate. Had some things shipped up by Desolate just recently.

Between a newborn, house remodel and work I don’t have the time to take on the project anymore and I’d like to get it completely done. I have the parts for the steering, can even supply the material for the bumper if needed.

You have a few options. First would be Samco Fabrication. Sam got his start with Rod Hall. He races and so do his employees. His last fab guy went onto Menzies as fab/ co driver. Sam, Alex and co are great guys. I have gone to multiple races with these guys as support in NV as well as Baja.
Another shop that is building a nice reputation is Silver State off-road. I personally don’t know them but a few trusted friends in the industry speak well of them.
Finally in NV you have Randy Slawson of Bomber Fab. Randy has multiple King of the Hammer wins.
Nate of Nate’s 4X has built numerous high dollar builds, not a go fast guy though.
Nothing wrong with Jim Foley of Folbeck, but he’s just a bolt on guy. His manager, Donny used to own a shop in town too. Bolt on shelf stuff and general maintenance.
If you don’t want to support a NV business I’d look at Rockhound in Auburn.

Most bumpers are bolt on, no fab work need.

Maybe minimal at the frame horns. But any shop can do that for you. I guess what i'm saying, buy the parts that you want, that you know work, and any decent shop can install it. The hard part is done.

This could help you out quite a bit. Buy a complete kit that someone can bolt on for you. That way, all the parts go together and you can have a bolt on shop do the install. Your hourly rate should be less, and it would save considerable time because building custom means a ton of cycling. I would hedge a bet that it would cost you 3-5 times as much to have a shop build it than it would to buy the kit and have someone bolt it up.
I'm just here for the views. It helps me feel wanted.

This is a great list! I have also heard good things about Silver State.24hours wrote: ↑Mon Sep 05, 2022 7:10 pmYou have a few options. First would be Samco Fabrication. Thank you for the great list Nick! I’ll make some calls! The steering seems like a fairly straight forward install, but I cut the old tube bumper and frame horns off after an accident so the bolt on bumpers are out of the question for me now. Would’ve loved to get desolates new bolt on.

Let me know if you ever want to meet up and talk Broncos. I was actually born in Portola and wanted to get back up into the area so we just moved to Reno last year.KrondoUSA wrote: ↑Wed Sep 07, 2022 6:51 pmThank you for the great list Nick!
