Hard to find hardware - got a good source?

Post by ChaseTruck754 »

So I'm having a very hard time finding a couple of odd bolts I need and my usual "go to" type places (mcmastercarr, fastenal, etc.) don't have them either.

Does anyone have any places that seem to have everything?

I've done google searches, etc. and have tried all sorts of online places & can't find 2 things I need...

1st one is a m5 x .50 pitch (.50 is fine - I can find course all day long!) x 12mm long socket cap screw.

2nd one is an m10 x 1.25 (again fine pitch - but even course would work for this!) x 145mm stainless, buttonhead allen. I'd even be open to a 7/16-28 x 5.75" (or even 6") stainless, buttonhead allen here.

Anybody got any ideas?

Mcfaddendale? G&J Aircraft in Ontario?

Haven't had time to go to McFaddendale yet, but they tend to have LESS available than McMasterCarr so I'm not holding my breath on them. I can call G&J but same answer as above for them.

Thanks.

The more I look & look the more I'm not sure the stuff is available. I have one of the m5 bolts though so I know they are out there somewhere. It came out of the table in my mill/drill. Turns out one of them worked itself loose and got lost in the shop before I figured out why my table all of a sudden seemed "loose"

Hey when you're in temecula go to hanks hardware. They have yet to fail me. They have a huge selection of bolts including stuff I've never seen.
I'm just here for the views. It helps me feel wanted.

Thanks for the help guys. Just more places to try, As I said - I've tried a bunch of places online (5-6 so far) and haven't found what I need yet.

Randy - I love hanks. Always go when I'm down there, but they have let me down 4-5 times now. For most people Hanks will have it. When it comes to weird sizes (good luck with 7/16 or 9/16 fine thread grade 8s!) or automotive type stuff they fail...

Steve - I've used a place that I think you'll really dig. I meant to get the info at work today after reading this, but got busy. I'll try to remember Monday. Drop me a line if I don't reply.

Thanks Rod.

This is what's left.

I've realized on this I may just ditch my want for the button head top. These are bumper bolts for the alfa & I was trying to get away from the hex head for aesthetics.
